This is a call to artists who are members of Oceanside Museum of Art (OMA’s) Artist Alliance. You are invited to submit any number of entries for consideration in this juried art exhibition that will take place at OMA. Artwork will be on view in the Gleason Gallery, one of OMA’s large ground floor spaces.
Artists may submit original two-dimensional or three-dimensional work. Artwork may be up to 84” in any direction.
Artists must be a current member of OMA with the Artist Alliance Membership add-on. Artists who are not a member of OMA and the Artist Alliance but are interested in participating in this exhibition must submit their membership application before submitting artwork through Online Juried Shows. “JUROR’S CHOICE” EXHIBITION INVITATIONAL
Three artists will be chosen from the exhibition as “juror’s choices” and will receive solo exhibitions at OMA opening in November, 2017.

• Fees: $20 for the first submission, and $10 for all subsequent. Entry fees are non-refundable and must be paid by the entry deadline.
• Artwork details: Original or limited edition two-dimensional work, no larger than 84” in any direction and no heavier than 100 pounds.

JUROR’S BIOGRAPHIES
SUE GREENWOOD
Established in 2002, Sue Greenwood Fine Art (SGFA) is one of Southern California's most respected contemporary fine art galleries. The gallery seeks to exhibit artists that exemplify aesthetic excellence with a focus on realism and figurative works of art. SGFA represents thirty-five highly refined and distinctive emerging and mid-career artists from across the United States. As the Director, Sue is responsible for the management, branding and sales of thirty five artists by curating monthly exhibitions in-house as well as organizing outside solo and group shows, participation in art fairs, personal art advising for private and corporate collections, educational lectures and everything else imaginable that goes into running a fine art gallery.
Sue held previous positions at Diane Nelson Fine Art, Daniel Fine Art, Art Resource Group, and The Bowers Museum of Cultural Art.
KAREN McGUIRE:
Karen McGuire is the Curator of Exhibitions for the City of Carlsbad’s William D. Cannon Art Gallery in the Library & Cultural Arts Department and has been in that position since 1999. Before she worked for the city, she was Gallery Director and teacher at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo in Orange County, curating exhibitions and teaching Art History and Gallery Professional Practices.
Karen’s passion was always in the visual arts. She was an art maker (got her first art set in Kindergarten!) and studio art major throughout high school and during her first years in college. Eventually, she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Art History, and a Master of Arts Degree in Art with an emphasis on Exhibition Design and Museum Studies at California State University, Fullerton. She was invited to become the Gallery Director at Saddleback College while still in graduate School and went to work in the field immediately after graduating.
For more than 20 years, McGuire has curated and organized more than 100 exhibitions – including thematic, historical, and contemporary art exhibitions, with a focus on artists of Southern California.
DETAILED GUIDELINES FOR ENTRY
1. ENTRY DEADLINE: 11:59 PM Pacific Standard Time (PST), December 15, 2016.
2. EXHIBITION: Artwork will be chosen by Karen McGuire and Sue Greenwood, to be exhibited March 4 – August 27, 2017 at Oceanside Museum of Art, located at 704 Pier View Way, Oceanside CA, 92054.
Artwork must remain with the exhibition through the run of the show. Selection of artworks for inclusion in the exhibition is entirely the decision of the Juror. The juror’s selections are final. Entrants contacting the juror in advance of selections will be disqualified.
3. ELIGIBILITY: To submit artwork for consideration in this exhibition, you must be a current OMA member with the Artist Alliance add-on. Artists who are not a member of OMA Artist Alliance but are interested in participating in this exhibition must submit their membership application before submitting artwork through Online Juried Shows. 4. ONLINE ENTRY PROCESS: Entries will be accepted exclusively through www.onlinejuriedshows.com. When entering for the first time, follow the instructions for opening an account and creating a password. Record your password for reuse in all future entries with www.onlinejuriedshows.com. Scroll down to locate the exhibition “Artist Alliance at the Museum 2017” and follow the directions for entry. When filling out your artwork information for this show, please be sure all information and spelling is correct. All information entered by the artist will be used “as is” throughout the entire exhibition. Entry form must be completely and accurately filled out providing all requested information regarding the artwork and the artist. 5. DIGITAL IMAGE SPECIFICATIONS: Complete instructions are found on http://onlinejuriedshows.com/HowtoEnter.aspx as follows: It is not necessary for digital image file(s) to be pre-formatted to the 1920 x 1920 pixel size. Digital image of each work submitted will be automatically resized. However, for the best image quality it is suggested that each image be submitted at at least 1920 pixels @ 72dpi on the LONGEST side. Files may be submitted in JPG or JPEG.
Important: the quality of photography contributes greatly to the clarity, sharpness, color, lighting and understanding of your artwork and assists the jurors in their decision making process. Please submit your image(s) accordingly.
6. USE OF IMAGES: By submitting images to the exhibition, the entrant warrants that he/she created each of the artwork(s) submitted for consideration in the exhibition and that he/she possesses all legal rights to them. The entrant agrees that all submitted images selected by our judge may be used for marketing and promotional purposes related to the exhibition. By providing the images and other information through this entry, the entrant gives permission for OMA to use images of accepted artwork for promotion, reference, printed materials and online postings as well as in future advertising. All images used by OMA shall have a credit line of the artist. Copyright and all other rights remain that of the artist.
7. ENTRY FEE: At the end of the entry process, payment can be made using Pay Pal or a valid credit card. Entry fees are nonrefundable and must be paid by the entry deadline. Unlimited numbers of entries per Entrant are allowed. Entry Fees are $20 for the first submission and $10 for all subsequent submissions.
8. ELIGIBILITY OF ARTWORK: Artwork may be two- or three-dimensional. Submissions are open to all visual artists working in all mediums. Originals or limited editions only. Artwork may be up to 84” in any direction.
9. NOTIFICATION OF ACCEPTANCE: Entrants whose work is accepted will receive an emailed Acceptance Letter from OMA via onlinejuriedshows.com January 10. Exhibiting artists will also receive a loan form. Detailed instructions will be given in the acceptance letter.
10. CONDITIONS: Final acceptance of entries in the exhibition is up to the Jurors’ discretion after viewing the delivered framed artwork. If an artwork does not match the appearance of the electronic entry, if actual dimensions of artwork are larger than specified size limitations, or if the workmanship or framing is not suitable quality for gallery presentation, the artwork will be disqualified and returned at the artist’s expense.
OMA will assume insurance responsibility for the object upon receipt and inspection and during the exhibition. OMA is not liable for any claim or loss, theft or damage of any kind during transportation. OMA will exercise the usual care in handling and will provide coverage for the fair market value of the work or the fair costs of repair. It cannot be responsible for minor wear resulting from normal handling. Each artist in the exhibition will be required to sign a loan agreement with OMA for loan of the work.
11. ARTWORK IN-TAKE: Exhibiting artists may deliver work to: Oceanside Museum of Art, 704 Pier View Way, Oceanside, CA 92054, on the following dates:
• February 16, 2017 10:00am-4:00pm
• February 17, 2017 10:00am-4:00pm
• February 18, 2017 12:00-2:00pm
Artwork may also be shipped to the museum. Please package artwork securely for shipment – OMA cannot be held responsible for damage sustained during shipping through a third party carrier (UPS, FedEx, etc). All shipped artwork must include a return shipping postage label in the package.
All work delivered must be ready to hang. If work that is not ready to hang is delivered it will not be included in the exhibition or be accepted at drop off.
There is limited storage on site for artwork packaging. Please plan to remove packing material at the time of artwork drop-off and bring packing material at the time of pick up.
12. ARTWORK PICK UP: Artwork must remain with the exhibition through the conclusion of the show, August 20, 2017. Appointments for pick up will be available the week of August 21 and will be scheduled closer to that date The exhibiting artist or their representative is responsible for packing their art pieces at time of pick up.
If artwork is shipped, the museum will package artwork for return shipping in its original packaging. A return postage label must be provided by the artist.
13. SALES: Artwork will not be advertised for sale in the gallery. If the artwork is available for sale, please indicate the price on your submission.
Should there be any inquiries, the museum will take the name and contact information of the interested party and pass the inquiry on to the artist. The museum will not quote a price for the artwork, even if a price is indicated with the submission. All sales will take place privately between the artist and the buyer.
If artists would like to donate any percentage of the sale to OMA post transaction all proceeds will support exhibitions, operations, and educational programming. A donation of 25% is typical.
Either the buyer or the artist may pick up the artwork after the exhibition closes. Please alert the museum if there will be a different person picking up the artwork than who delivered the work to the museum
14. ABOUT OMA ARTIST ALLIANCE: The Artist Alliance is an affiliate group of membership dedicated to the support of Oceanside Museum of Art. Artist Alliance provides opportunities for interaction, visibility, and growth for artist in the region.
The mission of Oceanside Museum of Art is to educate and inspire the public through a diverse range of engaging exhibitions and programs that connect people with regional, as well as national and international, artists and art forms of the 20th and 21st centuries.
