Yosemite Renaissance is an annual juried competition/exhibition now in its 32nd year that offers a unique opportunity for artists to promote and sell their art in a significant setting. The exhibition will begin at the historic Yosemite National Park Museum Gallery located in the heart of Yosemite Village. Over 18,000 visitors from all over the world attend the two-month art exhibition. The exhibit then travels to two other art centers in Central California.
Awards
$4,000 in cash awards will be announced at the opening at the Yosemite National Park Museum Gallery.
About Yosemite Renaissance
Historically, artists have played a very important role in the establishment of state and national parks. Yosemite Renaissance is a non-profit organization created to offer a continuum with these past generations of Yosemite artists. Our goal is to encourage artists to create diverse, artistic interpretations of Yosemite National Park and the surrounding Sierra Nevada region.

Criteria for Submissions
Subject matter is limited to recent works on the landscape, environment, wildlife and people of Yosemite National Park or the Sierra Nevada region. Both representational and non-representational submissions are accepted. Original artwork may be in any fine art medium including the following: painting (any medium); photography/digital; and other (multi media, drawings, pastels, printmaking, textiles, and 3-dimensional works of any medium).
Artwork entered in previous Yosemite Renaissance competitions is ineligible.
Size is limited to works that can be shipped in containers not exceeding maximum U.P.S. dimensions of 130 inches, length and girth combined (girth is the distance around the package). Triptychs or other multi-image pieces (exhibited under one title) should not exceed 48 x 48" and must be framed as a single unit.
Each artist is limited to eight entries. No more than two entries from any artist will be included in the exhibit.
SELECTION & AWARD PROCEDURES
Artists must submit one digital file for each piece of artwork entered. For dimensional art, three images may be submitted. Upload one primary image (front view of the piece) and 2 secondary images (side view and back view of the piece).
1. Preliminary and final selection for inclusion in the exhibit will be made by the jurors from the digital images submitted. Between 35 and 50 pieces will be selected for the final exhibition.
2. Artists whose works are selected are responsible for shipping their original works for the exhibition to the Yosemite Museum Gallery. If the originals differ in appearance from the digital files they will be disqualified.
3. Independent jurors will select the award-winners from the original art. The award-winners will be announced on the night of the opening (Friday, February 24, 2017).
JURORS
The Board of Directors of Yosemite Renaissance (consisting of artists, curators and administrators) will make the initial selection of works for the exhibition. Award-winners will be selected by independent judges to be announced.
ENTRY FEE
The cost for the first entry is $25. Additional entries (up to 8) are $15 each. Entry fees are nonrefundable and must be paid by the entry deadline. Payment is by credit card or PayPal.
ENTRY PROCEDURES
Entry is through Online Juried Shows only. No other submissions will be accepted.
Entry form must be filled out in its entirety. List sizes up to the nearest inch. Submitted images must not include matting or frame. Crop the photos to include only the artwork. Be sure your images are right-side-up.
For best results, make sure your images are at least 1920 pixels on the longest side at 72 dpi (but no larger than 4MB). Images should be in JPEG format, sRGB color space. NOTIFICATION OF JUDGING RESULTS
Artists will be notified of the judging results via email by mid-December. The results of the judging will also be posted on the website www.yosemiterenaissance.org when they are available. Artists who are selected for the exhibition will receive additional information via email at a later date.
EXHIBITION SPECIFICATIONS
All framed two-dimensional artwork accepted for exhibition must be framed to gallery specifications with proper hardware ready for hanging. Three-dimensional works accepted for exhibition must be ready for presentation. All artwork must be packed in sturdy cardboard, reusable containers made for shipping artwork. Containers should not exceed the UPS maximum of 130" (length and girth combined).
Exhibiting artists will ship their accepted art to the Yosemite National Park Museum Gallery at their expense and include a pre-paid return label for each piece accepted.
LIABILITY
The utmost care will be taken in handling artwork while in Yosemite and other venues. However, no responsibility is assumed by Yosemite Renaissance, Inc., the National Park Service, the Mariposa County Board of Supervisors, exhibiting venues or any other sponsoring agency for loss or damage for whatever cause.

SALES
Artwork will be considered not for sale (NFS) when indicated on the entry form. Yosemite Renaissance retains a 40% commission on each sale. Please be sure to keep in mind, the commission, framing and shipping costs when determining the price you wish to sell your art. PRICES CANNOT BE CHANGED AFTER THE COMPETITION CLOSING DATE, NOVEMBER 13TH, 2016.
AGREEMENT
Submission of an entry or entries constitutes:
• Agreement by artists to the terms and conditions in this prospectus.
• Agreement by artists that accepted entries will be available for display even if previously sold
• Agreement by artists that they give permission for images of their works to be used for publicity purposes and/or for them to be reproduced in printed or electronic publications which are directly related to the activities of Yosemite Renaissance
TRAVELING EXHIBIT
Works from the exhibition may be included in a traveling exhibit through October 2017. A checkbox is provided on the entry form for artists to indicate if their works will be available to travel throughout this traveling exhibit.
Please note that due to space limitations not all traveling venues will be able to display all the pieces included in the Yosemite Museum Gallery exhibit. Each venue will determine what they can display.
