Jurors: NAOMI LEWIS (Entry) and Brenda Zappitell (Awards)

Naomi Lewis (Juror for entry)
Born in Albany, New York, in 1951, Naomi Lewis lives and works in Albany, New York.  She holds an MFA in Printmaking from the University at Albany, State University of New York (1999) and a BS in Studio Art from Skidmore College (19973).

Recent solo exhibitions include, ‘Naomi Lewis: Recent Work” at Lake George Arts Project in Lake George, New York (2013); “Natura” at Saratoga Arts in Saratoga Springs, New York (2010); and at Terminal A Gallery, Albany Institute of History & Art in Albany, New York; the Hyde Collection in Glens Falls, New York; Pierogi Flatfiles in Brooklyn, New York; the Tang Museum, Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York; Mandeville Gallery, Union College in Schenectady, New York; the Lahden Taidemuseo in Lahti, Finland; and the Wexford Arts Center in Wexford, Ireland.

Lewis works as Exhibition and Outreach Coordinator at the University Art Museum, University at Albany, State University of New York.

Juror: Brenda Zappitell (Juror for awards)
Born in 1964 in South Florida, Brenda Zappitell lives in Delray Beach, FL, with her family.  She creates abstract expressionist works not only born out of intuition, but also serendipitously influenced by nature and life experiences.

Her work is in both private and public collections, including MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, the St. Regis Hotel in New York City, the Hard Rock Hotel in Tampa, FL, the University of North Texas Business Leadership Building and the Boca Raton Museum of Art, as well as others.

She has had representation in galleries all over the US and her work has been included in solo and group exhibitions nationwide.  Ms. Zappitell recently had a solo exhibition at the Boca Museum of Art and co-curated a group exhibition at the Cornell Museum of Art.

Zappitell is a contributing writer for Professional Artist Magazine.  She also writes an ongoing Blog for their website.

ELIGIBILITY:
•    Exhibition is open to all N.A.W.A. members
•    Applications and entry for this exhibition is through: www.OnlineJuriedShows.com only.
•    Every artist is entitled to submit two (2) art artworks that have been completed within the last 5 years (2011 or after).
•    There is a $40 non-refundable fee that is payable by credit card/Paypal through: www.OnlineJuriedShows.com
•    Work which has received an award in a previous NAWA show is not eligible for an award in this show.
•    Work which has been exhibited in the Armory Art Center in any other show cannot be submitted for this show.
•    You will receive a confirmation from Online Juried Shows for your accepted entry.
•    This is a juried exhibition.  There will be a juror for entry and for awards.
•    This completed application signifies that the artist agrees to the guidelines, waiver and specifications of the exhibition.

CALENDAR:
•    Application deadline: October 2, 2016. (Online entry application submission will close).  When deadline is reached the competition is automatically closed for submissions in the
www.OnlineJuriedShows.com program.
•    Notification of accepted artwork:  Friday, October 14, (will also be posted on N.A.W.A.’s Facebook (www.facebook.com/theNAWA) and on the N.A.W.A. website.
•    Delivery of Accepted work to Art Handler, Derek Moses, between November 21-30, 2016. Please include a check for $45 made out to Derek Moses in your shipped artwork box - it is for handling only.
•    Artists’ hand delivery date: December 5, 2016, between 10am-2pm
•    Reception: Friday, December 9, 2016, 6-8pm
•    Removal of Art work – December 30, 2016, 10am-2pm.  Shipped work will be returned ASAP.

ENTRY AGREEMENT:
•    The commission will be: 50% artist, 30% Armory and 20% NAWA.
•    The entry application and payment will serve as the entrant’s agreement to all conditions (including the Waiver) set forth in this prospectus. (See Attached Waiver).
•    Entries will be disqualified for failure to follow these instructions.
•    N.A.W.A. is not responsible for Copyright protection for images submitted to this exhibition.  Copyright protection of images is the responsibility of the artist.

SPECIFICATIONS:
•    Work must be professionally wired and ready for hanging.
•    For works on paper plexi-glass is required (for pastel work – glass is permissible).
•    Metal or wood frames preferred.
•    Unframed artwork must be finished on all sides.
•    Maximum size: 36” x 48” (framed or unframed) in any direction.
•    Sculpture: Max 60 lbs. and 48” high (pedestals are available for sculpture).
•    All work must remain on exhibit during the entire show.
•    All work must be for sale.
•    All work must be original – no reproductions or Giclee prints.
•    Work will not be hung if damaged in transit.
•    NAWA reserves the right to refuse work not professionally presented.
•    Price of entered work cannot be changed.
•    Invitations, press releases, email eblasts to our mailing list, promotional materials and advertising will be handled by the National Association of Women Artists. Inc. and the Armory Art Center.

NOTES:
•    Accepted Artists will be listed on the N.A.W.A. Facebook page: (www.facebook.com/theNAWA), and an eblast will be sent to all members.
•    Entry form must be filled out in its entirety, including unframed dimensions (or size), framed dimensions (if not known, estimate it) or weight, medium, and price, if requested.  List sizes up to the nearest half inch.  Submitted images must not include matting or frame.  Crop the photos to include only the artwork.  Be sure your images are right-side-up.
•    For best results, make sure your images are under 4MB before uploading (the system will not take anything larger) because the system will automatically resize the images to 1920 pixels @72 dpi on the longest side.  Images should be in JPEG format, sRGB color space.  Help in photographing your work and properly sizing your images can be found at: www.OnlineJuriedShows.com/help.aspx.  If you need help entering your images or are unable to, please email

•    Out of town artists must ship their work via Derek Moses at the UPS Store, 222 Lake View Avenue (Suite 160), West Palm Beach, FL 33401 (#561-835-9791). Mark your carton “NAWA Exhibit” and arrange for delivery no later than November 30, 2016.
•    There is a $45.00 handling fee from the UPS store to the Armory Art (unpacking art work, repacking and transporting to the UPS store). This fee is for handling only. The shipper, Derek Moses will get in touch with you for additional fees for returning your artwork.

Waiver:
I, the undersigned artist, hereby declare my intention to exhibit my artwork as described in my entry form, in the National Association of Women Artists, Inc., Crossing Boundaries, to be held at the Armory Art Center – Montgomery Hall, 1700 Parker Avenue, West Palm Beach, Florida 33401, and to leave said artwork until the specified removal date on the prospectus.

In consideration of the display of my artwork, I hereby declare I am the owner and creator of the original artwork being submitted by me, both as the artwork’s physical manifestation and the copyright of artwork.  I accept full responsibility for any and all damages, loss, theft, and/or any other casualty of any kind while in the Armory Art Center’s care, custody or possession.  I hereby waive any and all claims against the Armory Art Center, as well as their employees, officers, directors and committee personnel.  Nevertheless, for the purpose of this agreement, I agree that the stated value of the artwork shall be One ($1.00) Dollar, in the event of any loss or damage to the piece of artwork.

I agree to allow an image of my artwork being exhibited to be used without charge for advertising and/or promotion in the furtherance of the Exhibition, and for any purposes including without limitation traditional media, social media, website as well as public relations, prior to and/or after the Exhibition.

My work is available for sale at the price hereinbefore agreed.  I agree that if my work is sold during the exhibition, I will pay NAWA a commission of 20% percent, the Armory Art Center a commission of 30%, and I will retain 50% percent of the selling price.

Point of release clause:  the work on exhibition is considered part of the exhibition from point of delivery (either by hand or by mail) and until actual pick up/shipping after close of exhibition.

I understand that my work may not be hung if it fails to meet professional presentation standards (as determined by the Exhibitions committee), arrives damaged, differs significantly from the jpeg image submitted, is over the depth, width and height limit and (for wall sculpture) is above the weight, depth, width and height limits.

NAWA retains the right of discretion to decide if artworks do not meet the requirements of our show standards, or contain any inflammatory or offensive materials.

Labels: NAWA a not-for-profit art organization, will not list anything other than the name of the artists, the title of the work, dimensions, medium and price on the labels.  

In the event of a dispute with regard to this Waiver Agreement, we agree that all disputes must be adjudicated in a State Court in the County, City and State of New York (i.e. Manhattan), under the Laws of the State of New York, without regard to choice of Law rules.

Note:  The use of the National Association of Women Artists, Inc.’s logo, without prior written permission is prohibited.  The use of the registered Trademark Seal and the logo of the National Association of Women Artists, Inc. for any personal or business use on any documents, postcards, invitations, and other promotional materials and communications is a violation of law. The letters NAWA may be used by regular juried members (i.e., not Associate or Student members), after their names, on all artworks, signifying their membership.
