Framing/Matting Guidelines

MATS: Single or top mat will be white or off-white and acid free. The white mat provides a visually unifying element for an exhibit, otherwise all the work is visually different. Also, equal margins surrounding the painting or bottom weighted are required. If an inner mat is used, it may be any color to complement the painting. Filets may be used.

FRAMES: Frames must be sturdy, in excellent condition, and of professional quality. They must have picture wire attached to the back from which to hang the painting. Saw tooth hangers are not allowed. Artworks must be protected by glass, plexiglass or finished with varnish and/or other protective coating or fixative.

It is Co-Directors of the Exhibit discretion to prohibit any pieces from entering the show that do not comply with the above guidelines. VWS adheres to Professional standards.
