A Note on Awards
All members are eligible to receive a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or Honorable Mention award. Artists who submit as “Developing Artists” are also eligible for the awards reserved for developing artists. Developing Artist is defined as an artist who has not yet been accepted to any national or international pastel show requiring 80% or more soft pastel, so if you wish to be considered in this award category, be sure to answer Yes to the question, “Do you qualify for, and want to be considered for, Developing Artist awards?” before you check out. Artists may receive only one award in the show.
Who Can Submit
All members in good standing are eligible to submit. Dues must be paid in advance of submission. If you are not sure if you have paid your dues for 2025, check the Directory on our website.
Submission Process and Fee
• Submissions must be made online at Online Juried Shows. Answer “Yes” to the question, “Do you qualify for, and wish to be considered for, the Developing Artist awards?”.
• Images must be jpg, under 4 mb, and in sRGB colorspace. For best results, images should be at least 1920 pixels on the longest side @ 72 dpi. For help with your submissions, contact onlinejuriedshows@gmail.com or 888-666-1351. You do not have to resize or name your image files.
• The submission fee is $30 for up to 2 pieces. All submitted pieces will appear in the show.
Submission Requirements
• Work must be at least 80% soft pastel.
• Work must be less than 3 years old. Work that has previously been in another CMPS show, or that has won a top award in any national show (Best, 1, 2, 3), is not permitted.
• Work may be of any size for this online show.
• Work must be based exclusively on the artist’s own photo reference, life set-up or plein air experience, concept, and composition.
• Work must be directly and individually drawn or painted by the artist, not traced or otherwise created over a base photo.
• Work must be exclusively the product of the artist. Work done in a class or workshop, online venue, paint along, or otherwise under the guidance or advice of an instructor, is not permitted.
Pricing and Sales
• Work may be priced or marked Not for Sale (NFS). Prices should reflect the track record of recent sales of similar work by the artist. Work marked For Sale must be available exclusively through CMPS from 5/1-5/25. Prices may not be changed after submission.
• CMPS will offer any for-sale work on its online website store, and will notify artists of sales. Artists are responsible for promptly shipping or otherwise delivering the work if sold and will notify CMPS when delivery is completed.
• CMPS retains a 15% commission on sales. Artist’s share will be sent within 30 days of show close.
Notifications
• Submission fees are nonrefundable.
• CMPS may choose not to include any work that does not meet requirements.
