Eligibility:
This is a live exhibition gallery show OPEN to NW Pastel Society (NPS) members and nonmembers. The following eligibility rules aim to foster positive relations with our galleries thus ensuring that we can continue to have in-person exhibitions. Please read and follow all eligibility rules laid out in this prospectus.
- All artwork is to be executed in dry pastel (hard to soft pure pigment pastels, not oil pastels). Mixed media pieces must be 80% predominately pure pigment (dry) pastel.
- All artwork must be original in concept and completed within the past 2 years. No collaborative work. No instructor-assisted workshop or classroom work. No instructor reference photos may have been used.
- Work exhibited in previous NPS exhibits is not eligible, nor are works that have won a top award (Best of Show, first, second or third place) in any other international or national art show or exhibition.
- Work must be originally drawn, not drawn by digital projection or created on top of a basephoto/print. Accepted paintings must be identical to the digital entry. No substitutions or copies are allowed.
- Artwork must NOT be produced with AI assistance.
- Any Photo reference used must have been taken by the artist themselves. If there is a question regarding the photo used, the artist will be required to submit the original unmodified image.
- All entries must be for sale and realistically priced. (see Sales info below)
- There is no minimum artwork size, however, the minimum frame size (outer frame dimension) is 12”x12” or 144 square inches. Maximum size (outer frame dimension) is 35” x 35” for this exhibition and the frame must not exceed 1225 square inches.
- All accepted artwork must be framed, professional in appearance and ready to hang with strong wire and flat metal hangers. An acid-free mat, when used, must be proximal to the pastel painting’s surface (not painted on the pastel painting’s support board). Matting and Glass must be clear of any finger prints and pastel dust. Float mount of the pastel painting on an acid-free mat board is permitted. NPS or Cole Gallery may refuse to hang accepted work that does not meet professional standards.
Sales:
A 50% commission will be collected by the Cole Gallery on all sales of accepted artwork between show entry and show closing.
Submission of Entries:
- Log in and click “Enter This Show” to begin your submissions.
- You may submit up to 3 paintings, provided they each meet all the eligibility criteria.
- Submitted images must NOT include matting or frame. Crop the photos to include only the artwork. Be sure that your images are right-side-up. List size to the nearest inch. For best results, make sure your image is at least 1920 pixels @72 dpi on the longest side. Images should be in JPEG format, under 4 mb, and sRGB color space.
- Entry form must be filled out in its entirety. No changes to entries will be allowed after the entry deadline. Please double check that your artist information in OnlineJuriedShows.com is complete and up to date. OJS contact information is used by show Co-chairs and gallery owners when questions arise.
- Entry into this exhibition constitutes agreement with all conditions set forth in this prospectus and Entry Form and is your commitment to participate. PLEASE print a copy of the Prospectus and your entries for your records.
- Your entry form is a legal and binding contract to deliver artwork that has been entered into this show. If an entrant does not follow the eligibility terms, the artwork will be disqualified. If an entrant chooses to not deliver accepted artwork, the artist will not be allowed to enter an NPS show for a period of two years.
- Fee: Entry fee is $45 for current NPS members, $55 for non-members, for up to 3 images. The Entry fee is nonrefundable and must be paid by the entry deadline.
Delivery of Accepted Artwork:
- The Gallery can only accept hand carried artwork on April 29th from 10am-6pm (unless the artist calls the Gallery to make arrangements). Any shipped artwork must be sent through Phoenix Art Restoration Services. Information and forms will be sent to artists with their acceptance letter. - Alternatively, NPS will announce regional drop-off locations to pool deliveries for their current members. NPS and their volunteers accept NO liability in delivering another member’s artwork. (This option is not available in all areas)
- Return shipment of unsold artworks is at the expense of the member artist. Please include a return shipment label with delivery. This also is only done through Phoenix Restoration Services, so if you ship through them, please fill out all the forms.
- ALL work must have the label sent with your acceptance notice completely filled out and attached to the back of the artwork. A “Certificate of Authenticity” is NOT adequate.
- Remember to always protectively pack your work.
Disclaimer:
- All reasonable care will be taken with submissions. NPS, NPS officers, NPS volunteers, Cole Gallery, and Online Juried Shows shall not be held responsible for the loss and/or damage to paintings, shipping, or digital entries.
- NPS suggests that participants carry separate insurance as provided under individual contracts with shippers and receiving agents.
Promotion:
- Participating artists are asked to personally promote this exhibition. A digital postcard will be made available for use in emails, FB and IG.
- Participating artists grant permission to NPS, Cole Gallery and show sponsors to reproduce work for publicity and promotional purposes, both in print and digital galleries. Copyright will be attributed to the artist.
Workshop Opportunity:
· NPS is sponsoring a 3-day workshop with Barbara Jaenicke entitled “Painting the Poetic Landscape” on May 7, 8, 9, 2025, from 10 am – 4 pm. The workshop will be located at the Art Works at 200 Dayton Street in Edmonds about 4 blocks from Cole gallery. See the NPS website for registration information.
