New Haven Paint and Clay Club
124th Annual Juried Art Exhibition of the New Haven Paint & Clay Club

The New Haven Paint & Clay Club - founded in 1900

PO Box 6314, Whitneyville, CT 06517

124th Annual Juried Art Exhibition

March 31 to April 25, 2025 at The Creative Arts Workshop (CAW), 80 Audubon Street, New Haven, CT 06510

the NEW HAVEN PAINT & CLAY CLUB (NHP&CC) The NHP&CC celebrates its 125th anniversary year in 2025. It is the oldest continuously active artists’ association in Connecticut. The Club showcases the work of its members and regional artists through annual exhibitions and actively supports the visual arts in the greater New Haven, CT area and beyond. In addition, the Club holds a large permanent collection of works purchased from its art shows and loans them to several public venues. It also offers merit awards, scholarships, free programs and lectures to the arts community. In its early years, membership was by invitation. Currently, artists who have been accepted into two of the Club’s juried shows, which exhibit art from New England, New York, and New Jersey, are eligible for active membership. Jurors are well-experienced artists or museum professionals who are unconnected to the Club. More information about the Club and its permanent collection can be found at www.newhavenpaintandclayclub.org

This Year’s Juror, Stephanie Mayer Heydt, graduated from Cornell University, earned degrees in art history from the University of Chicago (MA), and Boston University (PhD), and is the Director of Collections and Exhibitions at the New Britain Museum of American Art. Dr. Heydt came to the New Britain in 2023 from the High Museum in Atlanta where she was the Margaret and Terry Stent Curator of American Art and managed a collection that spanned over two hundred years. Her specialty is nineteenth-century paintings, prints, and popular culture. She values the breadth and diversity of American art and uses these elements to form threads and connections over time. Dr. Heydt also held positions at the Gulf Coast Museum of Art in Florida, the Harvard University Art Museums in Cambridge, and the Terra Museum of (now the Terra Foundation for) American Art in Chicago. Dr. Heydt has collaborated on projects with Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, AR and the Smithsonian American Art Museum. She is widely published in the field.
