SUBJECT MATTER
|
The mission of this competition is to encourage artists to develop and refine their classical art skills and spotlight their mastery by providing a new platform for showcasing contemporary-traditional works of art.
We ask artists to represent Frost and Blossom via contemporary-traditional methods. Any genre of work will be eligible for consideration.
This exhibition will focus on how the beauty of both extremes – winter’s frost and spring’s bloom – is interpreted in traditional art.
We kindly request that artists submit works created in the last three years.
Note: NFS works are now eligible for consideration. Review updated competition guidelines here.
|
EXAMPLES
|
Artworks could feature winter figures wrapped in cloaks or fur against stark, snowy landscapes, verses spring figures in light garments amidst blooming flowers. Landscapes could explore icy, desolate winter scenes, or lush spring landscapes showing the renewal of life after winter. Still lifes can highlight minimalist arrangements of dried branches, frost-covered fruit, or empty vessels representing the hibernation of winter; or spring still lifes could feature flowers in full bloom, brimming with life and color. Seascapes could show icy waters and stormy seas, or could reflect calm waters with bright skies. It’s all up to your creative imagination!
Some potential sculptures could be anything from a star, to an angel, to an intricate snowflake, to hibernating or migrating animals, etc.
