Submission Guidelines

9th Annual Members’ Art Show

 

This annual show is a thank-you to all of our members. It is a privilege for us to showcase your art in the Academy’s gallery. This is not a juried show and there is no submission fee.

Deadline for Entries: Sunday, September 8

Artwork Dropoff: Sunday September 29, 4:30-6pm & Monday September 30, 9-11am

Artist Reception: Saturday, October 5, 4-6pm

Artwork Pickup: Sunday, November 3, 5-6:30pm & Monday, November 4, 9-11am

 

 Exhibition Requirements

·         ONE piece may be submitted in any media. Work must not have been previously exhibited at the Academy and should preferably be something created in the last 3 years.

·         2-D/ Wall hung work should not exceed a total more than 30” in height or width, including mat and frame, if framed in a traditional manner. If non-traditional, 30” total in both directions still applies.

·         Framed work MUST be ready to hang using securely attached picture wire affixed to professional hanging hardware such as screw eyes or D-rings. Gallery staff cannot do this for you. Please, no tape, claw hangers, fishing line, or string.  If framing or mounting hardware are not acceptable, we cannot display your artwork.

·         Freestanding or 3-dimensional work must be able to be exhibited on pedestals in the following sizes: 16” x 16”, 23” x 23”, 16” x 36”, or directly on the floor.

·         All artwork needs to be delivered (and picked up) in-person on the designated dates. Please arrange for a friend or representative to do this for you if you are unavailable.

·         All artworks must remain for the duration of the exhibit. Works must be removed promptly following the end of the exhibit on one of the specified removal dates.

We are using the platform onlinejuriedshows.com for submissions in this year Members’ Show.  As mentioned above, this is not a juried show, there is no submission fee, all submissions by current Academy members will be accepted.

Information You’ll Need

 

  • Photo: Please upload the best quality photograph you have of your artwork.
  • Information: Please be sure to include information about your work, including title, media, and dimensions. If your artwork is 2D, and you know the frame size, please include both image size and framed size. If you don’t know the framed size, please “guesstimate it” to the nearest inch.
  • Artist Bio/Statement: Please be sure to include a short bio and/or artist statement when you submit on Online Juried Shows to be included in the Gallery Book. To enter your bio and statement, click on "Your Artist Profile" (upper far right corner) and then "Bio/Statement/Password." Upload your bio as a PDF or Word Document and name it your first and last name. Type/copy and paste your artist statement into the designated box.

Sales

 

  • Works may be submitted for sale or as “NFS” (not-for-sale).
  • Although there are no price restrictions, experience has shown that work priced at $750 or less has the greatest chance of selling. The Academy retains a 35% commission on the sales price, and artists receive 65%.
  • If, during the show, and for a period of six months following its end, any visitor to our Gallery contacts you and subsequently purchases your artwork, we ask that you consider making a tax-deductible donation to the Academy equal to 10% of the sale price.

 Liability and Agreement

 

Insurance: The Academy has an insurance policy on artwork on display in the Gallery during the period of exhibition. The Academy insures work up to a maximum value of $5,000 per item while on its premises. If the insurance value of any individual piece exceeds $5,000 the Lender should arrange for a special insurance rider to cover the excess. Insurance for work during transport to and from the Academy is the responsibility of the Lender.

 

Promotion: Images of accepted artwork may be used by The Academy for publicity, advertising, or other purposes. Photos of the reception and exhibition, including photos of artists and installed art may be used by The Academy for publicity unless artist requests otherwise.

 

Agreement: When you submit a work of art for this exhibition you are agreeing to the terms and conditions, including insurance and sales commission.
