Packaging Specifications

Any packaging that is sent with the work will be re-used for return after the exhibition.. Work will be packed in the same way that it was received.

Installation

For installation of two dimensional work, d-rings are strongly recommended.

Please ensure that the d-rings you choose bear the correct amount of weight for your artwork and are secure.

Wires are acceptable if they are strong enough to bear the weight of the work and do not have protruding, sharp edges. Please be aware that works hung with wire will shift when on the wall and will need adjusted and leveled repeatedly throughout the exhibition.

Wall hung three dimensional works must have hanging hardware included with instructions for hanging.

Pieces must be stable enough for hanging with the proper access on the pieces for hanging hardware.

We will not hang three dimensional pieces with wax as the sole method for adhering to the wall.

Three dimensional work must have been hung previously for an extended period of time in the exact manner sent to us to ensure that the work will be stable with this hanging method and to answer any questions that we may have about installation.

All work must be received by the museum in clean, undamaged condition and in clean packaging materials. Any dirty packaging material could potentially harm artwork owned by the museum and on loan from other artists due to insects, off gassing, re-used boxes that previously housed hazardous materials, etc.

If your work has any interactive or installation specifications or instructions, these need to be presented to the museum at the time of drop off. Once installed, there is no guarantee that corrections will be possible.

We will contact you if we have any issues installing your work. If work does not meet the conditions above for installation, it may be omitted from the exhibit.

The Canton Ceramic Artists Guild was founded in 1974 by a group of dedicated ceramic artists committed to the advancement of the Museum's ceramics program. The Guild meets once a month, to organize their volunteer hours, plan upcoming sales, and share ideas and techniques.

Members in this service organization promote ceramics education by volunteering their time and knowledge to fire the CMA students' artwork, maintain the ceramics classroom, and demonstrate ceramic techniques to both children and adults. Guild members also volunteer their time to help with special projects at the museum, such as creating handmade items for auctions, openings, and other events.

Guild members participate in two sales each year, the Christkindl Markt and the May Sale. Portions of the proceeds from these sales are used to help purchase additional ceramics shop equipment, sponsor workshops for local artists, and purchase works for the CMA's Permanent Collection.

Each year the Guild also participates in the "Empty Bowls for Hunger" program, with each member donating handmade soup bowls. All proceeds from the sale of these bowls are donated to the Stark County Hunger Task Force. Bowls may be purchased at the May Sale.
