Santa Cruz Art League creates an environment where local as well as regional & national artists display their art. The many classes in art and performance provide a space for learning and enhancing the creative process. Established in 1919, Santa Cruz Art League is Santa Cruz County’s longest standing Arts organization, and is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit. In 2019 the Santa Cruz Art League celebrated its centennial year.

 

Exhibition Details

The first Santa Cruz Art League Statewide Exhibition was held in 1928.  For nine decades, the Santa Cruz Art League’s California Landscape Exhibition has showcased the work of artists who depict California’s foothills, mountains, seashores, and deserts of the interior and coastal regions. 

Open to statewide residents. 2D artwork only will be accepted. The SCAL reserves the right to decline or remove any work that does not conform to the agreement.

 

Eligibility

Open to California residents, plein air and studio artwork paintings of California locations within the last three years of the date of entry. This is a 2D painting exhibition of oils, watercolors, pastels, acrylics, encaustic, and mixed media. The Santa Cruz Art League reserves the right to decline or remove any work that does not conform to the prospectus or agreement. 

Fees

Entry fee paid to www.OnlineJuriedShows.com: Non-Refundable.
SCAL Members - $35 for one entry, $10 for each additional entry up to 5.
Non-Members - $40 for one entry, $10 for each additional entry up to 5.

 

Entering Your Images:

For best results, make sure your image is at least 1920 pixels @72 dpi on the longest side.  Images must be in JPEG format, under 4 mb, sRGB color space.  Help in photographing your work and properly sizing your images can be found at: www.OnlineJuriedShows.com/help.aspx.  If you need help entering your images or are unable to, please email onlinejuriedshows@gmail.com or call 949-409-4061 or 888-666-1351 Mon 10-2, Tue-Fri 9-5 Pacific Time.

Sales

All work must be for sale. Artists agree to donate 45% of any sale of work to Santa Cruz Art League (SCAL) or 30% of sale if SCAL Member. You can become a member through our website. The start date of the exhibition is also the deadline to register and have the membership commission apply. Artist will be paid three weeks from end of show. 

SCAL insures work only after installation. Maximum insured value $1000 regardless of price. Ownership of the artwork is transferred to the buyer at time of purchase.

 

Awards

The Santa Cruz Art League will grant prize money of $1500 to be awarded by our juror at the artist's reception.

Timeline of events:

1.     Open/close date for submitting their work online:

Prospectus Online: February 9
Deadline for entries: May 19 (11:59pm) 

 

2.     Notifications:  June 21. Results will be available in your OnlineJuriedShows artist profile

 

3.     Drop off of artwork:

Shipping Drop Off: July 9,10 , 1-4pm
Drop off: July 11,12, 1-4pm.

Work must arrive on required dates.

Pickup: September 14, 4-6pm and September 16, 1-4pm

No storage available.

 

·       Work requiring special handling is to be installed & removed by artist.

·       No work may be substituted or exchanged for any reason.

·       Work must be original, and for sale, ready to install.

·       Shipped entries must have a Prepaid Return Shipping Label (UPS & FedEx), Receiving sign paper and own your insurance for mailing. SCAL is not responsible for lost/stolen/broken artwork.

·       Artist bio and/or brief information on artwork with photo is encouraged for Gallery Bio Book, when accepted.

 

4.     Reception/Award Ceremony: August 4, First Friday, 6:00-8:00pm Attendance isn’t mandatory, but encouraged. An RSVP will be sent out so that we will know if the winners will be able to accept the award in person. Your response does not affect your chances of winning.
