Juror’s statement. “I look for the level of technical accomplishment, good drawing skills, a skillful approach to the composition, lost and found edges, and working with values. Most important, I evaluate whether a painting is a clean, fresh and confident watercolor followed by the creative expression of the artist. To move a painting from simply copying a photograph to art, the artist needs to express an experience, an emotion, or try to tell a story.”
