Exhibition: March 11, 2024 – June 8, 2024

Twenty 20 Gallery is thrilled to announce a remarkable opportunity for photographers and AI artists who create photo-based art and AI generated art for this innovative and thought-provoking juried exhibition, "A.I. O.K.  - The Lens vs. The Machine: A Dialogue in Pixels."  

Description: 

This unique showcase will challenge preconceived notions about artistic creation, inviting both artists and viewers to contemplate the intersection of human ingenuity and machine intelligence.

“A.I. O.K. - The Lens vs. The Machine: A Dialogue in Pixels” aims to bridge the gap between camera-created photographs and AI-generated works, sparking a conversation about the evolving nature of visual storytelling. This exhibition invites artists to submit their most compelling pieces, whether captured through the lens or crafted by algorithms, to examine the evolving relationship between technology and artistic expression.

About Twenty 20 Gallery:

Twenty 20 Gallery is an exhibition space created by Robert Pendleton MD, PhD.  Rob is an Ophthalmologist and founder of Pendleton Eye Center in Oceanside, which houses the Twenty 20 Gallery. 

Submission Details: We welcome submissions from artists working in both traditional and digital realms. Whether you wield a camera or code, your work is integral to this exploration of the creative process. Submissions may include but are not limited to:

Traditional photographs

AI-generated images

Hybrid artworks combining both methods

 

All photographers and digital artists, regardless of experience, are encouraged to submit their work.  

Each photographer may submit as many images as desired.

The entry fee is $35, covering the submission of three images. 

Additional submissions are welcomed at a cost of $10 per image. Entry fees are non-refundable.

Accepted works can be either dropped off at the gallery or shipped at the photographer's expense.

For work being returned by shipping, please provide return postage to ensure the safe return of your work at the conclusion of the exhibition.

 

Important Dates:

Submission Entry Begins: January 2, 2024

Submission Entry Deadline: February 16, 2024, Midnight (PST)

Notification of Accepted Work: February 20, 2024

Shipped artwork must arrive by 5:00 pm on Friday March 8, 2024

In person artwork drop off Saturday March 9, 2024, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

Exhibition Dates: March 11, 2024 – June 8, 2024

Opening Reception: March 19, 2024, from 6:00-9:00 pm

In person artwork pickup, Saturday June 8, 2024, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

 

 

How to Submit:

Submissions will only be accepted through https://www.onlinejuriedshows.com/

Log in and click the yellow “Enter this show” button at the top of the page. 

Prepare your digital images for submission. Please ensure they are high-quality and in JPEG format, under 4 mb, with a minimum 1920 pixels on the longest side @ 72 dpi.

Pay the entry fee securely through the Online Juried Shows payment system.

Upload your digital images to onlinejuriedshows.com according to the provided guidelines.

Selection Process: 

Image selection will be juried/curated by Robert Pendleton MD, PhD. Rob is an accomplished photographer, and digital artist. All submitted artwork will be carefully reviewed and evaluated on artistic merit and originality. The chosen photographs will be announced on February 20, 2024, via through Online Juried Shows. Artists will be notified via email once the results are ready to view in their artist profiles.

Note: Please ensure that you review the submission guidelines and terms and conditions available presented here on the prospectus before submitting your work. 

 

Presentation:

The space at Twenty 20 Gallery consists of 9 recessed / lighted art niches 48”H x 36”W, one recessed / lighted art niche measuring 57”H x 51”W, and several open walls ranging in size from 3ft to 13 ft.  Priority will be given to works that are at least 14 inches in one dimension (including frame). 

 

Works must be framed and or mounted and “ready to hang” by attached picture hanging wire and should not weigh more than 20 pounds.  “Saw-toothed” hangers or D-ring hangers without wire will not be accepted.  Artwork requiring electricity is not eligible.  

 

Final Acceptance:

Framing and mounting must be of professional quality.  Artwork not conforming to the above specifications, not in ready to hang condition with picture hanging wire, or that deviates from the previously submitted digital image will not be displayed in the gallery.  Final acceptance will be determined during artwork delivery.

 

Sales and Commissions:

Images in the show can be reserved for purchase by patrons of the gallery at any time by leaving a deposit of not less than 50%, however, images cannot be removed from the gallery until the close of the show.  Twenty 20 Gallery will retain a 30% commission on all sales.  Monies collected for sales will be paid to the artist by check after the completion of the show.

 

Delivery and Shipping of Accepted Artwork:

Hand-delivered and shipped artwork must be delivered to Twenty 20 Gallery located at 3637 Vista Way, Oceanside, CA 92056.

Hand-delivered artwork drop-off at the Twenty Gallery: SATURDAY, March 9, 2024, BETWEEN 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM.  THE GALLERY WILL NOT ACCEPT HAND-DELIVERED WORK AT ANY OTHER TIME.

 

Shipped artwork must be received at Twenty 20 Gallery by: March 8, 2024, by 5:00 pm. (Please plan for artwork to arrive no earlier than March 1, 2024.)

 

Shipped artwork must include a prepaid shipping label for return shipment. 

Shipped artwork must be packaged in a professional packing box.

Pack work so that it can be easily re-packaged with the same materials.

No Styrofoam peanuts.

Shipped artwork should be insured for its full value.

Ship to Twenty 20 Gallery, 3637 Vista Way, Oceanside, CA 92056.

Pick Up and Return of Artwork:

Hand-delivered artwork must be picked up from Twenty 20 Gallery, Saturday, June 8, 2024, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. NO EXCEPTIONS

Shipped artwork will be shipped and returned at the conclusion of the show.
