WPW is happy to present our members with a new, exciting opportunity to showcase our artwork.  Our next exhibit, “Raising Our Brushes”, will be both an Online show and an optional  live show at The Yuma Art Center, in Yuma, AZ.

Accepted artists will receive updated notification regarding sending their pieces to Yuma, but please be advised, WPW will be arranging a FREE transfer of your work to the gallery. Drop-off locations are to be determined. Our member Jeni Bate has graciously agreed to personally transport our work to and from Arizona.

Return of work details via WPW will be announced at a later date.

The theme, “Raising Our Brushes” leaves room for wide interpretation, however, we hope you will choose to portray something meaningful that you are passionate about.

Our juror, David Rubin, is a Los Angeles-based curator, writer, and artist. As a curator, he has held positions at MOCA Cleveland, Phoenix Art Museum, Contemporary Arts Center New Orleans, and San Antonio Museum of Art. In 1996 he was the U.S. Commissioner for the Cuenca Bienal of Painting in Ecuador.  He also was a four-time juror for the Florence Biennale, having served from 2001-2007.  As a writer he has contributed to Arts MagazineArt in AmericaArtweekArtSceneGlasstireFabrik, Artillery, Art and Cake, and Visual Art Source. He has published numerous exhibition catalogs, and his curatorial archives are housed in the Smithsonian Institution's Archives of American Art.  In his art he focuses on automatic drawing.  Drawings by Rubin are in the collections of the Ogden Museum of Southern Art and the Bradbury Art Museum at Arkansas State University.

There will be prizes!!    First place: $300, Second place: $200, Third place: $100, and three Honorable Mentions.

Eligibility:  

Work must be your own original artwork, not done under an instructor’s supervision, and not exhibited in any previous WPW show.

THIS EXHIBIT IS FOR WOMEN PAINTERS WEST MEMBERS IN GOOD STANDING ONLY.

Specifications:

You are welcome to have your work in the Online show only. Work does not have to be included in the Yuma, AZ show.

Work does not have to be for sale, however work sold at the live show in Yuma will incur a 35% gallery commission. No commission if your work is sold from the Online show.

Size restriction for artwork going to Yuma – no larger than 36 x 48”, not to exceed 20 pounds. NO size restrictions for work in the Virtual exhibit only.

All pieces going to the live show in Yuma need to be ready to hang. Works on paper should be matted and framed with plexiglass, not glass.

Original digital art will be considered but not digital reproductions.

 Entry Procedure:

Artwork for consideration by juror must be entered in the www.onlinejuriedshows.com website by midnight Sunday, October 8, 2023. Log in and click Enter This Show to begin your submissions.

 Fees:

$35 for ONE entry, $5 for each additional entry, up to three total entries by a single artist. All fees must be paid by the entry deadline and are non-refundable and payable through  www.onlinejuriedshows.com. Credit card or PayPal are accepted.

 Disclaimer:

Please be advised that if your work is selected for the show and you decide to include it in the live show in Yuma, the gallery does NOT provide insurance. We will be researching possible group insurance for pieces during travel.

 The images from this Exhibit to be displayed on the WPW website are the exclusive property of the individual artists and no rights are conveyed to anyone without the express written permission of the artist.

Digital Images of Each Piece:

Digital format: JPEG

Entry form must be filled out in its entirety. List sizes up to the nearest inch. Submitted images must not include matting or frame. Crop the photos to include only the artwork. Be sure your images are right side up.

Before uploading your images, make sure they are smaller than 4MB, but at least 1920 pixels on the longest side at 72 dpi. Images should be in JPEG (.jpg) format, sRGB color space.
