Prospectus
ELIGIBILITY:
* Open to all soft pastel artists 18 years of age or older who are citizens of the USA.
* Soft pastels only. No oil pastels
* All artwork must be predominately (80%) soft pastel.
* Artwork must be created in the last 2 years, and not entered in any previous IPS shows.
* Original artwork only, not copies from other artist’s work or published work. If a photo reference is used, all works must be from your own photos, taken by you. Artwork created on top of a photo is not eligible. Altered photos with pastels added are not eligible.
* Work done in a workshop is not eligible, regardless of reference or real life set up.
* All subjects and styles, except nudes, are eligible. IPS reserves the right to refuse any entry for any objectionable depictions or for not following these rules. Please be mindful of that.
* Submission photo must accurately represent the original.
* The juror is selected from our pool of experienced jurors. The juror’s decision on all entries and awards is final. Only juror selected works will be exhibited. If for some reason the selected juror must withdraw, IPS reserves the right to select a replacement. This is a juried event, entry does not guarantee acceptance.
* This is an online exhibit so no size restrictions.
* Work does not have to be for sale. If not for sale type NFS in the value box. Values or NFS status cannot be changed once entered. If someone inquires about a painting, they will be directed to the artist. IPS takes no commission in this show.
* No artwork can be removed once submitted to the exhibit. No refunds are allowed after submission.
* Once open, the show will be available for viewing online in the
published shows section of OnlineJuriedShows.com and our website.
IMPORTANT DATES:
June 30, 2023: Online Entry Opens
September 15, 2023: Deadline for all entries, Midnight PST
September 25, 2023: Notifications email sent on/before. Results will be available in your OnlineJuriedShows artist profile
September 28, 2023: Exhibit opens online
September 28, 2023: Winners will be notified by email/zoom
November 28, 2023: Online exhibit closes
PROCEDURE FOR ENTRY: Please read instructions carefully.
* All entries must be submitted online in JPG format through OnlineJuriedShows.com * Make sure all photos are clear and cropped to only include the artwork, no frames or background and no glass reflections. Images must be smaller than 4 mb, and for best results should be 1920 pixels on the longest side @ 72 dpi. Images should be no less than 800 pixels on the longest size. The juror sees full size images.
* After the entry deadline, your submission can’t be edited.
ENTRY FEES:
Members: Fee $30 for 1-3 entries. Member dues must be current and paid in full to enter as an IPS Member. Dues of $30 may be paid online on our website prior to entry https://www.iowapastelsociety.org/page/13075/ips-membership or you can add your dues as part of the entry process in addition to the entry fee.
Non-Members: Fee $45 for 1-3 entries. Artists must be a US citizen.
Entry fees are non-refundable.
MEET OUR JUROR: Lorenzo Chavez

Lorenzo Chavez was born and raised in New Mexico. His first inspirations and foundation as a young artist were formed by the landscape and the art history in New Mexico. Lorenzo now makes his home in Parker, Colorado and uses this location as a base to travel and paint the American West and Southwest. Lorenzo enjoys painting in both pastel and oil. He participates in several national invitational and international group exhibitions and has won major awards including the Pastel Society of America in New York; His work has been chosen to represent PSA in the Butler Art Museum, Ohio. Pastel Society of Spain, Pastel Society of France, Artists of America Show in Denver, Rims to Ruins Exhibition, Plein Air Painters of America, Buffalo Bill Center for the West, Albuquerque Art Museum, Maynard Dixon Country, 100 Gold Medal Exhibition at The Pasadena Art Museum, The Brinton Museum, Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum, The Brinton Museum, Coors Show in Denver, Butler Art Museum, Laguna Art Museum, Gilcrease Museum, Steamboat Art Museum. Feature articles have appeared in Southwest Art, Art of the West, American Artist Magazine, Plein Air Magazine, Artists Magazine, Western Art Review, American Art Review, Pastel Journal, and Denver Post. Nine new books feature his art: Les Mitres de Art France, Painted Sky, Art Journey America Landscapes, Colorado Landscapes, and Pure Color: The Best of Pastel 1 &2 and Plein Air New Mexico and Beautiful Landscape paintings outdoors. Lorenzo is a nationally known Fine Art instructor who has taught numerous workshops across the United States since 1993. Lorenzo is represented by many major fine art galleries and many private and corporate collections both nationally and internationally.
Lorenzo is a member of the Western Rendezvous of Art, California Art Club-Signature Member, Pastel Society of America, Past member of the Plein Air Painters of New Mexico, Master Signature Member of the Plein Air Painters of Colorado, Pastel Society of Spain, and the American Impressionist Society- Signature Member.

Iowa Pastel Society, their officers, members, and representatives will not be responsible for errors in entry. Please read instructions carefully. Entry constitutes the agreement granting IPS reproduction rights of your photos for the purpose of advertising this exhibit, online and social media.
