8 Categories: Oil, Acrylic/Watermedia, Mixed Media/Collage, Photography, Digital Art, Other Media: Includes, Pastels, Drawing/Printmaking, Sculpture/Wall- Hanging Sculpture, and Textile. Giclees are accepted but not judged. Up to three (3) entries are accepted


Eligible Artwork: All work must be original, done in the past 2 years, and may not have won a cash award in any previous COAL show.  No Diptychs or triptychs are accepted as one piece, unless: (a) a picture or series of pictures (such as an altarpiece) i.e. a painted or carved has two-three hinged tablets, or, (b) a work of art made up of two to three matching panels that can be merged, as one painting only will be considered as one entry.  No work using copyrighted source material unless you own the copyright. No “not for sale entries.  All entries must be suitable for viewing.


Entry Specifications: PLEASE PREPARE

Entries must be suitable for general viewing. All entries must be dry, framed or gallery wrapped, sides painted, or finished, and mounted with D-rings, and must use only sturdy picture hanging wire (no single wire, or string). Wire ends must be taped, no wire is to be exposed above the frame when stretched to hang on a nail. No saw-tooth hangers or eye-screws will be accepted. 

 

Maximum Weight and Measurements: 2D Artwork – 10lbs, max. Art on paper larger than 24x30: must be under glass or plexiglass. 3D Wall Hanging: 10lbs, max.  No single 2D art or 3D wall hanging entry may have a diagonal measurement, (Top left to bottom right corners) including the frame, that is greater than 50” inches. each. The sum of the diagonal (corner to corner) of combined entries (including frame), is not to exceed 100 inches.  3D Free Standing Sculpture up to 72 inches. Must be secured and attached to the base, and not over 60 lbs.


Entry Fees:  All fees are non-refundable

COAL Members: $20 for the 1st entry, and $15 for each additional entry. (Must be good standing)

NOTE TO MEMBERS:  Assigned hosting dates will be chosen when turning in Accepted work. 

Non-members:   $30 for 1st entry and $20 for each additional entry.  (Non-members may join COAL online at a prorated rate prior to entering. 

 

Image files must be jpg and under 4 mb. For best results, image files should be 1920 pixels on the longest side @ 72 dpi. For help with your entries, contact onlinejuriedshows@gmail.com or 888-666-1351.

 

Pricing Your Art: Minimum sale price is $25.00 and art must be priced in $5 increments. Sales tax must be included in your sale price @ 7.750%, Gallery takes a 20% commission, plus a 3% commission for credit card sales. Artwork sold may not be replaced. 


Sales: For art sales over $600, the artist will be asked to provide a W-9 prior to mailing funds. All sold artwork will be funded the following month, by the 15th day of the month following the sale, or after the show closes via US mail only.

 

Accepted Art Checklist:  

You will be provided Entry tags forms via email:. Before coming to the gallery please fill out your entry tags sheet completely for each piece of artwork (in duplicate). Bring the entry forms, and turn in them with your artwork. Your name, Title and Phone number are required.

All entries require that artist identification is attached to the back. (Title, name, phone number). No exceptions. You will be provided a sheet to compete for your artwork tags, make a copy to bring with you at take-in. COAL reserves the right to reject artwork that is not presented as per these submission requirements. 

Awards: It is your responsibility:  Each awarded artists can pick up their award at the reception, and will be left at the gallery for art pick afterwards, or can be picked up at the close of the show if not in attendance.  Otherwise, they will be mailed with your funds if you have sold a piece of artwork within 30 days after the show closes vial US mail only.


Liability:  Carlsbad Oceanside Art League (COAL) and the accepted Artist, Representatives, and/or Owner of certain artworks, originals, prints created by the artist, and presented to the Carlsbad-Oceanside Art League, hereafter referred to as the (COAL), for the participation in the 71st Fine Art Open Annual at the North Coastal Art Gallery, do hereby acknowledge that I have am voluntarily participating. in the temporary exhibition, and that. I am responsible to adhere to the Policies and Procedures in this Prospectus set forth for inclusion into this event.  


I hereby waive any claim for loss, theft, damage or injury to the works of art caused during event exhibition period, August 6 – September 4, 2023, until the works of art are removed by me, or sold while at the event. I agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless the Carlsbad-Oceanside Art League and its officers, employees, and agents, from and against any claim or suit for loss, damage or injury to the works of art or caused by any person while the works of art are on public display, including loss, theft, damage or injury resulting from the acts of third parties, fire, or water. You should consider providing your own insurance. I further acknowledge that, pictures and/or videos taken during COAL programs, activities and/or events may be used for future promotional or communication purposes on all social media platforms representing the COAL.


The above Waiver cannot be altered or the artwork will not be accepted for exhibition. I have carefully read and agree to this release, hold harmless and agreement not to sue, and fully understand its contents. I accept and am aware that this is considered a full release of all liability upon entering the 71st Fine Art Open Annual, and that I have read the requirements.
