The Bristol Art Museum announces a call for art from both amateur and professional photographers/artists to submit their photographic artwork that is dedicated to the universal expression of human relationships. 

 

 

Examples of themes (but not limited to) that express human relationships:

·      Love/tenderness

·      Work/toil

·      Play/amusement

·      Family/friends

·      Education/learning/curiosity

·      Images of people of all ages

·      War/conflict

·       Peace/tranquility

Juror: Jan Armor

 

Jan is an award winning Rhode Island fine art photographer and educator, with a professional practice spanning over thirty years. Along with his teaching and a busy studio practice, he volunteers at the Mathewson Street United Methodist Church in Providence that provides food, clothing and friendship to those in need. Jan says:

 

·       I love the medium as much now as I did when I was a teen.

·      I have a seeking eye.

·      I love beauty and form and shape and line and texture.

·      I love motion; I also love symmetry.

·      I love color and contrast: black and white, sharp and soft, happy and sad.

·      I love thoughtfulness and intention.

·      I love the effort to communicate something profound through photography.  

 

 

 

Submission Criteria

 

· Up to three pieces may be submitted:

$30 for one entry

  $40 for two entries

  $50 for three entries.

· Image files must be jpg and under 4 mb. For help with your entries, contact onlinejuriedshows@gmail.com or 888-666-1351.

·  Submitting artists must be able to hand deliver the accepted work.

· The deadline for online submissions is midnight, Tuesday, April 25, 2023.

· Juror’s choices announced by email early May. 

· All work must be hand delivered to the Museum: May 11 & May 12, between the hours of 1:00 and 3:00PM.

· Exhibit is on view Sunday May 28- Saturday July 8, 2023.

· All artwork must remain on exhibit until the closing date. 

· Optional: Please provide your Facebook or Instagram address for promotion of accepted works.

 

 

The Artwork

· All work must be original, and in some way represent the theme mentioned above.

· Photography, Alternative Photography and photo-based artwork accepted. Work must be 95% photo-based.

· Only accepting work that cam be hand-delivered

· All work must be able to fit through standard door. 

· No video or screen artwork at this time.

· Work received must be accurately represented by images submitted online.

· All work must arrive framed or ready to install with wire on back. Please include any special instructions.

· Artists may make their works available for sale. All sales of artwork are negotiated between the artist and the collector. No commission is taken by the Museum. The Museum will provide all collectors with the artist contact information.

 

 

Hand Delivery of Artwork

 

· Artist must agree to hand deliver, only.

· All accepted artworks must be delivered between May 11 & May 12, between the hours of 1:00 and 3:00PM. The Museum address is 10 Wardwell Street, Bristol, RI. 

 

Jury Process

· All work will be juried using the Onlinejuriedshows.com process.

· All selections are final.

· The Museum carries insurance for artwork on exhibit and while it is in the building, not while in transit.

 

Pick Up of Artwork

·      Artwork must be picked up at the Museum.  Artwork cannot be stored at the Museum beyond the end of the exhibit. 

· Artist MUST be prepared to pick up artwork at the close of the exhibit. Pick up dates are Sunday July 9 and Monday July 10, between 1:00 and 3:00PM.
