The Hayward Arts Council 40th Anniversary Exhibition is an opportunity for emerging and established artists 18 years or older who reside or work in the nine counties of the San Francisco Bay Area to exhibit 2D and 3D artworks in Hayward’s premier public gallery, the John O’Lague Galleria. The Galleria is open Monday - Friday 8 am to 5 pm, excluding holidays.

Judges
Rachel Osajima
Rachel Osajima is the Director of the Alameda County Arts Commission, a division of the County of Alameda. She has served in this position for 18 years. An arts administrator for over thirty years, Rachel has held numerous leadership positions and has worked for the Richmond Art Center, the Museum of Craft and Folk Art of San Francisco, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. She is a longtime Board Member of the Foundation for the Arts in Alameda County, Californians for the Arts, and California Arts Advocates. Rachel received a double B.A. in art history and fine art from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and a M.F.A. from the California College of the Arts.
Amy Diaz-Infante Siqueiros
Amy Diaz-Infante Siqueiros is a visual artist and an Assistant Professor of Art at California State University, East Bay. She is also co-founder of Casa Comadre, a culturally inspired children's clothing company. She holds a BA. in Art from Yale University, an MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design, and a Collegiate Teaching Certificate from Brown University. She has exhibited nationally and within Mexico and is an alumna of the Djerassi Resident Artist Program. Community engagement has been a key component of her arts practice, and as an educator and administrator, she has been active in the fields of youth arts and youth leadership.

Eligibility
Open to artists 18 years or older who reside or work in the nine counties of the San Francisco Bay Area: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, and Sonoma. Artists must deliver their artwork in person to the John O’Lague Galleria and pick up their artwork at the end of the exhibition. No shipped art will be accepted. All 2D artwork must be wired and ready to hang on a hanging system or wall fastener. Maximum dimension of 2D artwork is 30” on the longest side. Minimum dimension for 2D artwork is 5” on the shortest side. 2D artwork maximum weight is 20 lbs. 3D artwork maximum weight is 30 pounds. Three 3D artwork pedestals are available with w17” x d17” x h28” covers. Additionally, 12 linear feet of space is available on 3 foot high platforms. Artists may submit up to 5 artworks for jurying. No jewelry, video, or audio art will be accepted.
Rules of Entry
1. All artwork must be original and completed within the last three years. No giclee prints of original artwork.
2. All artwork must be for sale.
3. Entry

c. Each artist may submit up to 5 entries.
4. Entry Fees
a. Hayward Arts Council members - $35 for 2 entries and $10 for each additional entry up to a total of 5.
b. Non-members - $45 for 2 entries and $10 for each additional entry up to a total of 5. Non-members who join the Hayward Arts Council (membership through 12/2024) will receive a $10 discount.

5. Hayward Arts Council reserves the right to make the final determination of artwork suitable for the exhibition. Images of nudity, violence, political, or religious artwork will not be accepted.
6. Judging
a. Approximately 60 artworks will be selected for exhibition by our judges, Rachel Osajima and Amy Diaz-Infante Siqueiros.
b. Notifications will be emailed to artists by Friday, June 30, 2023. Results will be available for view in your OnlineJuriedShows.com artist profile.
7. Framed artwork is not to exceed 30” on the longest side and maximum weight of 20 lbs. Framed artwork is not less than 5” on the shortest side. 3D artwork must not exceed 30 lbs and be no greater than 36” high by 24” square for a free standing display. Three pedestals are available with 17”w x 17”d x 28”h covers.
8. Artwork must be ready to install. 2D art must be ready to hang. Flat D-ring hardware must be attached 1/3 distance from the top of the frame with wire 2-4” from top when taut. No saw-tooth hangers or protruding screw eyes will be accepted. Unframed canvas must have painted sides with no visible staples. Photographs must be matted and framed. Photographic prints on metal or other substrates are allowed but must be wired as specified above. 3D artwork must have stable support.
9. Artwork must be displayed for the duration of the exhibition. No exceptions.
10. No storage is available. Make arrangements to have someone deliver and/or pick up your artwork if you are unable to arrive at the specified delivery/pick up dates.
11. Bring a letter sized biography and/or artist statement for inclusion in the exhibition binder when delivering artwork.
12. Label each artwork with the artist’s name and title of artwork.
Digital Entries
Artwork will be juried using digital images (jpeg) through the Online Juried Shows Website. Artists register with Online Juried Shows and then submit digital images and pay through the website. An entry is one individual artwork. Artwork will be selected by our judges. Email notifications will be sent by Friday, June 30, and the results will be available to view in your OnlineJuriedShows.com artist profile.
Jpeg format should be at least 800 pixels on the longest side. Screen resolution close to 1920 pixels @ 72 dpi gives the best quality. Image quality is critical. For help with your entries, contact onlinejuriedshows@gmail.com or 888-666-1351.
Art Sales
All artwork must be for sale. Sales will be conducted by the Hayward Arts Council (HAC), which retains a 20% commission on all sales made during or because of the exhibition. HAC collects and pays appropriate sales tax. Artists will be notified of artwork sales during the exhibition. Artists must complete a W-9 Tax Form for sales exceeding $600. Artists’ commission payments will be processed approximately 3 weeks after the close of the exhibition.
Insurance
By entering this exhibition, the artist agrees to these terms: there is no insurance coverage for loss or damage. Every artist assumes the risks of exhibiting at the John O’Lague Galleria.

Publicity
Publicity will be provided by the Hayward Arts Council (HAC). Images of artwork may be used on social media platforms. In addition, images will be used in the HAC monthly newsletter and newspaper articles to promote the exhibition. By entering this exhibition the artist agrees to these terms regarding publicity.
