Oscoda Ausable Chamber of Commerce - Bigfoot Bash Festival 2023
ART CONTEST DETAILS:
THEME: BigFoot Sightings
OVERVIEW: This online judged call will result in 5 winning art pieces. The winning pieces will then be shipped to Oscoda, Mi (see Shipping section below), and reproduced onto rigid weatherproof banners and/or indoor posters as part of a Bigfoot Festival. The winning pieces will be displayed throughout Oscoda's downtown area to be admired and viewed by the public, and also on display during the town’s Paul Bunyon Festival (Sept 15-17) and BigFoot Festival (Sept 29-30). The winning art pieces will be raffled off based on ticket sales from the two festivals, with half proceeds to the artist. Winning artists have the option to add a QR code or web address to direct viewers to their website. Work presented should be considered for general viewing audiences of all ages.

ENTRY AGREEMENT:
The artist agrees to all the terms and conditions as outlined. Submitted art pieces that do not meet the ‘Requirements for Acceptable Work‘ and ‘Subject Matter’ descriptions, will be declined.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Open to all artists 18+.
USA - residents of Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Washington, Missouri.
Canada - residents of Ontario.
JUDGING will be on-line.
Winning entries received that then differ significantly from their submitted digital images may be rejected. Decision of the judge is final.

REQUIREMENTS for ACCEPTABLE ARTWORK:
All artwork must be original in concept, design and execution, and created within the last 3 years. Art should be unframed, size 12” (width) x 18” (height). Entries may be representational or abstract work in drawing, painting or mixed media. Paintings: oil, acrylic, water medium, egg tempura, encaustic, batik, ink. Drawings - conte pencils, crayon, coloured pencils, graphite, pen & ink, scratchboard, original hand pulled prints. Not Accepted - crafts, kit work, jewelry, reproductions of original works, fiber, fabric, photography, video digital prints, any work containing computer generated elements of any kind.
SUBJECT MATTER:
Your art, depicting a BigFoot sighting, must represent our Michigan location. Bigfoot must be visible in the finished piece. Work presented should be considered for general viewing audiences of all ages.
Think about where and how a sighting could occur. What would it feel like?
Our small town is surrounded by nature, and consequently hundreds of BigFoot sightings occur year round. We are on the sandy beaches of the ‘sunrise side’ of Lake Huron, with the Huron Manistee National Forest on our other side (1,000,000 acres of maple, oak, aspen, beech, jack and red pine). Through our town, runs the Ausable river, one of the best fisheries in the USA, renowned for trophy brown trout, brook trout, rainbow trout, steelhead and salmon. Families enjoy riverside camping, various lake and river activities (canoeing, kayaking, tubing), hiking trails, ATVs and winter snowmobiling.
ONLINE SUBMISSIONS:
Entry form must be filled out in entirety. Submitted images must not include matting, frame, QR codes or website addresses. Crop the photos to include only the artwork. Be sure your images are right side up. Images should be 1920 pixels on the longest side and 72 dpi. Images should be .JPG and under 4 mb.

WINNING SUBMISSIONS
Winning artists will be required to email a high resolution image (300 dpi) of their art piece. The original artwork must be delivered / mailed to Oscoda Ausable Chamber of Commerce, 4440 US-23, Oscoda, MI 48750. The art piece must be received no later than Sept 12, 2023. If delivering in person, contact pafraser1@gmail.com / 989 501-2760 for arrangements. Shipping costs are to be covered by the artist. Artist name will be displayed with the art piece, the city, state/province will be included at artist discretion. Artist QR code or website can be included. Winning art pieces will be used in a ticket sale raffle with 50% proceeds to the artist, and 50% proceeds to Oscoda Chamber of Commerce. The art piece will become property of the winning ticket holder and not returned to the artist.
SHIPPING:
Artists shipping their work will be responsible for the cost of crating, handling, and shipping artwork.
USE OF IMAGES:
By submitting this Application, I grant a perpetual license for any image submitted here by me to be used for marketing and promotional purposes related to the Oscoda Bigfoot Bash Festivals, which use may include publications, printed materials, advertisements, and electronic media, including but not limited to display on the Oscoda AuSable Chamber of Commerce website, Facebook pages, and other social and print media promoting festival events, as well as indoor and/or outdoor poster and banner formats. I understand that I retain all remaining rights of my image.
FEES:
USA (MI, WI, IL, IN, OH): $35 USD for the first entry, $5 for additional pieces, with a maximum of three (3) total. Payment by Paypal or credit card online through OnlineJuriedShows.com.
CAN (Ontario only): $25 USD for the first entry, $5 for additional pieces, with a maximum of three (3) total. Canadian artists can pay via Paypal through OnlineJuriedShows.com, or call 888-666-1351 to pay by credit card.
Entry fees are non-refundable.
AWARDS: 1st place: $350US, 2nd place: $250US, 3rd place $150US, Honorable Mention $50US, Chamber of Commerce Choice $50US PLUS 50% of money generated from raffling off art piece
LIABILITY:
Every precaution will be taken in handling the winning art pieces. Oscoda Chamber of Commerce and Festival volunteers are not responsible for damage or loss that may occur during transport, unpacking, while in our care, before, during or after the festival. Artists are responsible for providing their own insurance for accepted work.
