Tim Saternow was awarded the 2019 Fellowship with The Clark Hulings Fund, and is currently an Executive Fellow in the Clark Hulings Funds Art-Business Accelerator Program. Tim is a sought-after judge of exhibitions and workshop instructor.



April 17, 2023 - deadline for entries at

May 1, 2023 - notification of acceptance. Artists will be emailed when the results are ready to view in their OnlineJuriedShows artist profile

June 2, 2023 - shipped paintings due

June 2 & 3, 2023 - hand delivered paintings due

June 18, 2023 - 5:00 to 7:00 pm - opening reception

July 22, 2023 - exhibition closes

July 23 & 24, 2023 - paintings available for pick-up

July 24 to 28, 2023 - shipped paintings returned



The exhibition is open to all artists working with transparent and opaque watercolors, gouache or water soluble inks on paper, synthetic paper or watercolor board…no acrylic, casein, egg tempera, permanent inks, pastels, colored pencil, collage or any form of pre-print or reproductions.


Work must be artist’s original work from sources attributed to the artist and executed solely by the artist.



Selections for the exhibition will be made from JPEG images by a panel of jurors holding signature membership in watercolor societies.  Awards will be made by the judge of awards from delivered work once the exhibition is hung.

$8000+ and merchandise awards anticipated



All submitted work must meet the following requirements:

              …maximum frame size is 48 inches in any direction

              …matted work must have a white or neutral colored mat, colored liners permitted

              …unvarnished work must be protected by glass (hand delivered) or plexiglass (shipped work)  

              …varnished work must be framed

              …frames must have appropriate wire for hanging – no sawtooth or loop hangers

              …work misrepresented by the submitted images may be rejected

              …once submitted, title and price remain firm and cannot be changed


Entry grants Mad River Valley Arts permission to reproduce work for records and promotional purposes. Neither Mad River Valley Arts, its representatives or individuals working with Mad River Valley Arts will be responsible for damage or loss whatever the cause. Artists are responsible for providing their own insurance for accepted work.



Complete instructions for preparing, delivery of or shipping work will be provided upon acceptance into the exhibition.

Withdrawing work, once accepted, will result in refusal for entry for the consecutive two years.



Work may be priced or NFS.

Sale price is to be established by the artist and cannot be changed once submitted.

Any painting sold is subject to a 40% commission to MRVA.


Due to the nature of the exhibition location and the large tourist clientele, sold work may be removed from the exhibition space. Unsold work must remain hanging through the close of the exhibition.


Payment to artists will be made within 30 days of the close of the exhibition.





Entry through


A single entry fee of $35.00 applies for either 1 or 2 paintings - both may be accepted. For best results, make sure your image is 72 dpi and 1920 pixels on the longest side. Images should be in JPEG format and RGBcolor space. If you need help entering your images please contact or call 949-287-8645.

Entry confirms the artist’s acceptance of the regulations stipulated in the prospectus.
