CHENG LIAN, Juror/Judge

Cheng Lian was born in 1955 Shanghai, China, and graduated from China Academy of Fine Art (known as Zhejiang Academy of Fine Art) 

 

He is a Master Signature Artist and board member of National Oil and Acrylic Painters' Society, Signature Artist of Oil Painters of America. Cheng has been invited to be a judge for many art competitions, and give demos and workshops for many art leagues. 

 

As an artist Cheng has traveled to many places in China, Asia, United States, Europe and South America, visited lots of art museums and paid tribute to those art masters in different eras. His art paintings are widely collected publicly and privately all over the world.

 

Over the years Cheng has received many awards from varieties of competitions and exhibitions including:

                  Bronze Medal Award, Juried Salon Show OPA

·       Top 10 Honor Award winner, International Portrait Competition, Portrait Society of America

·       Gold Medal Award, Best of America Exhibition, National Oil & Acrylic Painters’ Society

Eligibility Requirements:

·      No mixed media, photographs, digital or any other media other than soft pastels.

·      Artwork must have been created in the last 2 years.

·      Must be entirely the work of the artist and not copied from another artist’s work.

·      Artwork must not have been created under supervision in a workshop or class, in person, on-line or otherwise.

·      Artwork must be for sale and cannot be picked up before the show closes.

·      One year ban from entering any PSST show if rules are not followed.

ENTRY FEES AND REQUIREMENTS:

Member Pricing: $45 for the first 2 images. $15 each for two additional entries. A total of 4 entries allowed per artist.

Non-member Pricing:  $60 for first 2 images.  $15 each for two additional entries.  A total of 4 entries allowed per artist.

·      Entries are made using Online Juried Shows only. 

·      Go to www.onlinejuriedshows.com and sign in or register for a new user account.

·      Submit up to 4 images.

·      JPEGs must not show mat, frame, etc. and must be an accurate representation of the artwork. Photos should be cropped to include only the artwork. Please be sure your images are right side up.

·      Images should be in JPEG format, in RGB color space.

·      Images must be smaller than 4MB, maximum of 1920 pixels on the longest side and 72dpi.

·      The PSST Exhibition Committee reserves the right to reject work deemed unsuitable at the venue.

·      Size restriction is 36 inches x 36 inches including frame.

·      Artwork must be firmly framed with screw eyes or “D” rings and wired ready for hanging. No sawtooth hangers.

·      Digital images of your artwork should be high quality, look professional and accurately represent your work.

·      Help in photographing and properly sizing your work can be found at www.onlinejuriedshows.com/help.

Payments:

The entry fee is paid via PayPal/Credit Card upon submission. No checks accepted. All entry fees are nonrefundable and must be paid by the entry deadline.

Sales:

·      Paintings must be for sale.

·      Arts for  Rural Texas will handle the sales and they will keep 40% commission on all art sold and artists will receive 60%. The buyer is responsible for shipping costs.

·      There will be no substitutions of paintings during the show and no early removal of artwork.

·      Prices may not be changed after submission and after the submission deadline.

 

Delivery and Shipping of Accepted Artwork:

·      Artwork accepted into the Show must be delivered to Ross Gallery, 114 Live Oak, Fayetteville, TX 78940, April 4th, 5th,6th, or April 10th between 10:00 am – 4:00 pm or by appointment 979-378-2113.  Arts for Rural Texas is closed on Sunday.

·      If mailed to Ross Gallery, there will be no handling fee for work shipped in an Airfloat Strong Box or Uline Deluxe Art Shipper.  Work shipped in other packaging will carry a $35 handling fee payable at the time of shipping; no crates will be accepted. Styrofoam peanuts and similar loose packing materials are not allowed.  Boxes that arrive unsuitable for return shipping must be replaced by artist.  Work must be shipped by commercial carrier (UPS, FedEx, DHL).  Shipped work will be returned promptly after show closes.   All work must be clean, securely framed, and wired for hanging in a non-metal frame.  We recommend the use of a framer’s grade plexiglass for shipping large paintings to minimize shipping cost and risk.

·      Artists are responsible for delivery or shipping sold work to buyers.

·      Arts for Rural Texas  and Pastel Society of Southeast Texas will use all reasonable care in receiving, hanging, showing, and returning work.  Neither Arts for Rural Texas or Pastel Society of Texas is responsible for any damage or loss to work incurred during shipping, hanging, or showing the work.  It is recommended that Artists insure their own work. Arts for Rural Texas reserves the right not to hang work that arrives damaged; is not properly wired for hanging; that is not equivalent to the image submitted for selection; or that otherwise does not conform to Submission Requirements.  Damaged work will be reported to artist and, if needed, returned at the artist’s expense.

·      Artwork must be picked up May 30, 2023.   Art cannot be stored.
