Thank you for considering entry into the 2022 2nd Annual RRWS Members’ Online Juried Show with two artist entry divisions, Professional and Novice. In conjunction, a 3-day online workshop taught by the Juror, Carl Dalio.

RRWS ONLINE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

1. Members need to be current with their dues for the fiscal year of 2022 and must be 18 years of age or older. Non-members can join RRWS prior to entering. https://www.redriverws.org/Wordpress/member-info/

2. Entries must be two-dimensional on watercolor paper or Yupo

3. Entry minimum size is 140 square inches, larger sizes are acceptable

4. Entries must be the artist’s original artwork, not created in a class, not assisted, not copied, and not created using another person’s photograph.

5. The entry must have been created within the last two years and not previously exhibited in a RRWS National Exhibition.

6. The entry must be a water media painting: transparent or opaque watercolor paint, gouache, casein, egg tempera, water-based ink, or acrylic.

7. Materials not allowed are pastels, oil pastels, water-based oils, collage, canvas, printed images, or reproductions.

8. Members must select either Professional or Novice division by checking the “Division Selection Choice” on the entry form.

9. Any artwork previously accepted into a RRWS juried show is ineligible.

10. Artwork cannot be in any other online juried show for the duration of the exhibition.

(A) PROFESSIONAL: A professional artist has met any of these criteria.

1. Includes any skill level above novice.

2. Is an artist that promotes or sells their artwork.

3. Has received compensation, copyright royalties, or residual payments from their artist activities that may be reasonably considered income.

4. Has acquired knowledge and education related to artist skills and activities enough to teach classes, workshops, or assist novice artists.

5. Has entered national exhibitions and/or has signature status in any other water media organization exhibitions or shows.

(B) NOVICE: The Novice artist is a beginner artist or is painting for fun and has not received compensation that is reasonably considered income for his/her artwork.

1. Participates in art organization activities and events but does not teach classes, workshops, and tutorials.

 

ENTRY FEES:

$25 for two entry paintings, plus $10 for each additional entry

Maximum total of five entries per artist.

 

JURYING SELECTION GUIDELINES PER CATEGORY:

The professional category will be juried. No signature points are awarded. Paintings entered cannot have been accepted into any previous RRWS exhibition.

The novice category will have at least one piece per person accepted and the Juror will hold a private 1-hour Zoom meeting with the group of novices to discuss the artwork. Only If a novice enters multiple pieces (up to five) the juror will notify the novice which piece is the strongest.

 

PREPARE DIGITAL ENTRIES:

RRWS has partnered with Online Juried Shows for the submission of entries.

 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS - DIGITAL IMAGE PREPARATION

1. Log on directly to www.OnlineJuriedShows.com to apply for the Red River Watercolor Society 1st Annual Members’ Online Juried Show (OJS).

2. Click on https://www.OnlineJuriedShows.com/CreateNewAccountaaspx to create an account. Fill out the “Create an Account” form completely. Record your password in a safe location. OJS will walk you through the process in clear steps.

3. Find the Red River Watercolor Society logo and click on “I Want to Enter This Show.” Fill out the entry form in its entirety. The size of the images must be listed to the nearest inch. Images should be forward-facing with the correct side up and not tilted or rotated.

4. Upload your images. They should be slightly smaller than 4MB, but at least 1920 pixels on the longest side at 72 dpi. Images must be in JPEG format, sRGB color space.

5. Contact OJS for assistance with properly sizing your images at https://www.OnlineJuriedShows.com/help.aspx.

6. Contact OJS for assistance with uploading your images at onlinejuriedshows@gmail.com

7. Add Services@OnlineJuriedShows.com and Manager@OnlineJuriedShows.com to your safe senders list to ensure notifications are received.

 

RRWS MEMBERSHIP (required to enter)

No signature status points are awarded for this show.

 

SALES

All sales will be coordinated between artist and buyer. A 30% donation to RRWS is requested on sales. Entries can be submitted as NFS. Selling status cannot be changed after submission through December 31, 2022.

REGARDING JURY NOTIFICATIONS:

Notifications are sent through ConstantContact from Manager@OnlineJuriedShows.com. To ensure receipt of this notification, please add Manager@OnlineJuriedShows.com to your contact list or safe senders’ list.

You will receive an email for every entry submitted, either declining or accepting each piece, in the order you submitted them. On the day of notification, you can do the following, but you will also receive an email notification, sent from ConstantContact, that will state the same.

1. Go to https://www.onlinejuriedshows.com/preDefault.aspx and log in using your email address and password.

2. Right above where you just logged in, click "Your Artist Profile." You are now in Your account!

3. Click the show name and you will see your first image. The jury results will be under the thumbnail view.

4. As you will see, it will say either "This Image has been Accepted or Declined into the show." Under that sentence, you can click "Read Acceptance (or Declined) Letter." The letter will then be displayed below.

5. If you submitted more than one piece in the show, go to the next entered piece in the show by clicking the page number, displayed below the thumbnail image.

6. While you are in your account on OnlineJuriedShows.com, click "Personal Info" and make sure your name, address, phone number, and email address are up-to-date.

NOTE: Please be sure to read your letters in their entirety. Most acceptance letters will ask you to RSVP or will have special instructions you must follow.

AGREEMENT / CONDITIONS & RULES: Please read carefully!

Failure to meet ANY of the conditions may result in ineligibility to enter future RRWS exhibitions for two (2) years and forfeit any awards.

Submission of this image, if accepted by the Juror, shall constitute an agreement on the part of the artist to comply with the conditions set forth in this Prospectus, including the following:

1. Permission is granted to reproduce the painting in promotion of the exhibition and to use this image for educational & publicity purposes.

2. I realize if my work is selected and I withdraw, or it does not meet eligibility requirements set forth in the prospectus - I will be disqualified immediately and will not be permitted to enter again for two (2) years.

3. I will NOT display my accepted artwork or offer it for sale in another exhibition, competition, or gallery during the scheduled time this exhibition is being held (August 18, 2022 - December 31, 2022) regardless of being online or in the gallery.

Carl Dalio, AWS, NWS

Biography

International artist Carl Dalio, a resident of Bay City, Texas, is a master of bold color and dynamic design. With abundant experience as a successful artist, illustrator, instructor and juror, he continues to honor essential concepts of beauty, design, imagination, passion and simplicity. Accomplished in watercolor, oil and pastel, he has presented painting demonstrations and workshops in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Europe and Indonesia. He is a signature member of the American Watercolor Society (served on its Jury of Selection in New York), National Watercolor Society (served on its Jury of Selection in California) and Rocky Mountain Watermedia Society. Carl's paintings, six-times cover art and numerous articles have appeared in books and publications including American Artist, Artist’s Magazine, Watercolor Magic, Splash and Pastel Journal. His paintings have received awards in national exhibitions, online competitions and plein air festivals. Carl painted in Cuba with fellow artists in Plein Air Magazine’s historic Publisher’s Invitational adventure.
