7th Annual “Little Gems” Juried Art Show

We are more than pleased and fortunate to have Paul Kratter as Juror of Awards for this year's Little Gems show, as Michele Usibelli is unable to attend, due to unforeseen circumstances. Paul will also be conducting an attached workshop. Contact Karen Bakke (below) if you have any questions. Plein Air Washington Artists is honored to offer this highly-acclaimed annual exhibit of the finest small works at the Scott Milo Gallery in the beautiful coastal town of Anacortes, Washington.
For 2022, Artwalk is back, and the show opening will be from 6-8pm. There will not be an official opening night celebration, but you are welcome to come for the awards and stay for the Artwalk!

DATES

Monday, June 20, midnight - Deadline for entries
Friday, July 1 - Acceptance announcements emailed
Tuesday, August 2 - Accepted art must arrive at Scott Milo Gallery between 11am-2pm.

Friday, August 5 - Show Opening, Jurying of show will be 4-5 pm and Anacortes Artwalk is 6-8pm. To-Go refreshments and bottled water will be available. Awards will be announced on the PAWA social media pages soon after.
Saturday, August 27 - Closing. People’s Choice announcement - 4:30pm.
Saturday, August 27 - Unsold art may be picked up at gallery closing, between 4:30 - 5pm
Tuesday, August 30 - Final date for unsold art to be picked up, between 11am-2pm.
JUDGE - Paul Kratter
Paul Kratter trained at the infamous Art Center in Pasadena, CA and held a lengthy career as an high-end illustrator. When Paul decided to turn towards fine art, his strong drawing and design skills and robust belief in graphic shapes and storytelling gave him tremendous tools to become the fine plein air artist he is today. Paul has taught many workshops, continues to win numerous awards in nationally-known events, featured in fine art magazines and creates instructional videos. Paul has a keen eye for composition, understanding of value, patterns and color.
ENTRY FEES
You may enter up to six pieces of art, but only up to three (3) will be accepted into the show, in total. $35 for the first three entries, $8 for each entry after, up to six (6) total entries. Entries will only be accepted through onlinejuriedshows.com. The non-refundable fees will be charged when entering your art.
ELIGIBILITY AND REQUIREMENTS
• To be eligible to participate in the show, you must be a member of Plein Air Washington Artists. If you are not currently a member, please go to www.pleinairwashingtonartists.com to sign up. Basic annual membership is $30, advertising members are $60.
• This is a small works show. Art must be 11x14 (or a total of 154 square inches) or smaller. This does not include frame size.
• Entry is open to traditional two-dimensional paintings of all genres, plein air or studio. Please, no digital art or photography.
• There is no timeline on when the art was created.
• It CANNOT be art that has been accepted and hung into the Little Gems show or in the Scott Milo Gallery in the past.
• All art must be available for sale. There will be a 50% commission to the gallery on items sold.
ENTERING YOUR IMAGES
For best results, make sure your image is 1920 pixels @72 dpi on the longest side. Images should be in JPEG format, under 4 mb, and sRGB color space. ACCEPTED ART
• Must be received at Scott Milo Gallery, Tuesday, August 2, 2021 between 11am-2pm. If you would like to drop off art to Karen Bakke (show chair, 360-421-3178) anytime prior, please make arrangements with her as soon as convenient to do so. If you need to ship art, send to: Karen Bakke, 8106 Garden of Eden Road, Sedro Woolley, WA 98284. NO art is to be shipped directly to the gallery.
• Must be suitably framed or gallery-wrapped and ready to hang with wire to gallery-quality standards. If you’d like to have your work framed at the Scott Milo Gallery, you may do so under your own arrangements. The gallery offers a discount to artists in the show. PAWA and Scott Milo Gallery reserve the right not to hang accepted art if it does not meet standard gallery-quality standards.
• Will be published in the “Published Shows” section of onlinejuriedshows.com and will also be shown on the Scott Milo website. A link will be on the PAWA website. Selected art will also be used for advertising the show.
• Artists will be responsible for retrieving, or making arrangements for retrieval of their art, at the end of the show. Art may be picked up at 4:30pm the day of the closing or the following Tuesday between 11am and 2pm.
RESPONSIBILITIES/LIABILITIES
All reasonable care will be taken with paintings and submissions. PAWA, its officers, volunteers and the Scott Milo Gallery shall not be held responsible for the loss and damage to paintings, frames or digital entries. By entering the show, you agree that you have read and will abide by all rules outlined in this prospectus; you understand and agree with this statement. Insurance for any loss or damage to artwork is the sole responsibility of the participating artist. The artist grants permission to reproduce work for publicity purposes, both in print and digital galleries. This permission includes use of images and supporting information in our blog, on our website or other means of promotion. Copyright will be attributed to the artist. Entry into this exhibition constitutes agreement with all conditions set forth in this prospectus and is your commitment to participate.
