Theme/About the Show: Take Flight, what does it mean to you, from flights of birds to flights of fancy, what does your heart envision? Consider what is inspiring about Michigan and all her natural resources.
This juried show will culminate in 21 winning art pieces being reproduced on rigid weatherproof panels and mounted on decorative pedestals. They will be displayed throughout Oscoda's downtown Art District to be admired and viewed by the public. Artists will have the option to to add a QR code to their piece to drive viewers to their website. Work presented should be considered for general viewing audiences of all ages. Artists will need to email a high resolution image (300 dpi) upon acceptance.
Juror: A professional panel will be jurying in pieces for acceptance. Judging will be by Heiner Hertling.

Heiner Hertling embraces the visual arts in many different forms, may it be colorful oil paintings, sensitive watercolors or pastels, monumental bronze or wood sculptures and even jewelry. After a short stint as a commercial artist in New York he moved to Detroit where the auto industry employed some of the best illustrators and artists for their advertising. After joining a studio and working for 20 years he ended up owning his own. From intricate detailed realism to bold colorful impressionistic paintings nothing in the arts seemed to be off limits to Heiner. The discipline and craftsmanship he learned though his advertising career and his enthusiastic light-hearted nature also made him a nationally known teacher and mentor. His television series “Your Brush with Nature”, a Plein Air painting show has given him a stage to share his knowledge internationally. Qualifications: Now open to all Artists working in 2D mediums nationwide.
Acceptable Artwork: Entries may be representational or abstract work in drawing, painting or mixed media.
Acceptable Mediums for painting: Oil, Acrylic, water medium, egg tempura, encaustic, Batik, Ink.
Acceptable Mediums for Drawing: Conte Pencils, crayon, colored pencils, pastels, graphite, pen & ink, scratchboard, original hand pulled prints
Not accepted: Craft, Jewelry, Fiber, Fabric, Photography, video digital prints, any work containing computer generated elements of any kind.
Fees: $35 for first entry and $5 for each additional entry up to 3 total pieces. Entry fees are non-refundable, and acceptance is not guaranteed.
Awards: $1660 total prizes awarded:
1st Place: $500, 2nd Place: $300, 3rd Place $150 (2) Honorable Mentions @ $75 each, (16) Merit Awards @ $35 each
All work must be for sale. 65% to artists, 20% to Huron Shores Artisan Hall, 15% to Art & Placemaking Sub-Committee of Oscoda Township
Images should be 1900 pixels on the longest side and 72 dpi. Images should be .JPG and under 4 mb.
Artists shipping their work will be responsible for the cost of crating, handling, and shipping artwork to and from the exhibition. There is a $10 handling fee for each package shipped. You must include a prepaid shipping label for the return of the work. If we do not receive the $10 handling fee or the prepaid shipping label, we will not be able to mail your work back to you. Accepted artists will receive detailed information regarding shipping and handling requirements.
Neither Oscoda Art Walk, its representatives or individuals working with Oscoda Art Walk will be responsible for damage or loss whatever the cause. Artists are responsible for providing their own insurance for accepted work.
By submitting images to this juried opportunity it is understood and agreed that images may be displayed the Oscoda Township website, www.oscodatownshipeic.com/art-walk/ facebook and other social and print media promoting this event. Replicas of award pieces will be displayed on Art Pedestals through out the Oscoda Art District; Artists will retain copyright to their images (s)
