Cape Cod Open Sculpture Invitational 2022
The Cape Cod Museum of Art and the New England Sculptors Association invite all 3D artists to submit to our inaugural Juried Sculpture Exhibition on the 22-acre campus of the Cape Cod Center for the Arts (25-30 potential sites identified). The 2022 theme is open and will be juried by representatives from the Cape Cod Center for the Arts and a guest juror (to be determined). In addition to the outdoor sculpture exhibition, there will be a 10-week indoor exhibition at the CCMoA (20-25 works).

Outdoor (specify when filling out entry form): May 27 - October 22, 2022
Indoor (specify when filling out entry form): August 17 - October 22, 2022
Opening reception: June 4, 2022
Closing reception: October 22, 2022
Outdoor installation: May 16 - 22 (machines available May 21-22)
Indoor sculpture drop-off: August 14 - 15 (or by special arrangement)
Indoor sculpture shipped: must be received by August 12
Sculpture pick-up: October 23 - 26 (machine available October 23)

November 1, 2021 - (entry deadline extended) March 1, 2022
Notification date: March 15. Artists will be notified to check the results in their artist profiles.
Fees (up to 3 submissions each for indoor show and outdoor show)
NESA Member: $25 for up to 3 entries, and $10 per additional entry up to 6 total entries-3 max for indoor, and 3 max for outdoor
Non-member: $45 for up to 3 entries, and $15 per additional entry up to 6 total entries-3 max for indoor, and 3 max for outdoor
Student: Free (and encouraged!)
Note: Entrants must join NESA at the Professional Artist level if their work is selected. Non-members will have $20 of their application fee applied to their membership dues. nesculptors.org/join
Stipends, Awards, Sales
Thanks to a grant from the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod, we will be able to offer 25 sculptors a $100 stipend for outdoor work.
Thanks to NESA and CCMOA, four $250 awards will be given, one for Juror's Choice and one for People's Choice for both indoor and outdoor segments.
Works can be put up for sale; CCMOA receives 30% and NESA 10%.
Specifications for Outdoors
Sculptures should be suitable for long-term, outdoor exposure, fabricated and installed in a viewer-safe manner. Sculptures should be installed in a manner that is sensitive to the natural environment. Any means of anchoring the sculptures should be removed by the artist during de-installation with the site restored to its natural state. Sculptures that need maintenance during the exhibition or that differ significantly from submitted images may be excluded.
Specifications for Indoors
Maximum size for free standing sculpture: 72"h x 36"w x 36"d.
Maximum size for pedestal sculpture:
40”h x 18"w x18"d.
Accepted sculpture being shipped must be received by August 12, 2022. Work must be packed in REUSABLE containers with PRE-PAID return shipping label enclosed.
Accepted Artworks
Only original artworks will be accepted. Artists may not withdraw accepted works or substitute accepted works. This will be an in-person show. Artwork will be delivered by the artist. All accepted entries and winners will also be displayed on the New England Sculptors Association’s website (nesculptors.org) and on the Online Juried Shows website. No artwork may be removed from the virtual or physical exhibits prior to the closing of the exhibit, regardless of sale status. Images of work may be used by CCMoA and NESA without notifying the artist or their agent, and all proceeds benefit CCMoA and NESA.
Accepted entrants MUST be (or become) members of NESA.
Tips for Submitting
All entries must be submitted in a digital JPEG format, between 2MB and 4MB.
Image quality is critical! Poor photography and presentation will affect acceptance by the juror. The digital image must represent the artwork. Instructions for submitting can be found at onlinejuriedshows.com/HowToEnter.aspx
Legal Statement
Submission to this juried exhibition constitutes an agreement on the part of the entrant to the conditions set forth in this prospectus. The Cape Cod Museum of Art reserves the right to final curatorial, educational, installation and marketing decisions. Only original art works may be submitted. The fee to enter is $25.00 for up to three (3) entries plus $10 per additional entry and does not guarantee, in any way, inclusion in the exhibition; NESA non-members will pay an additional $20 to enter the first three pieces, which will be applied to membership dues if accepted into the show. All entry fees are non-refundable. Only The CCMoA and NESA are 501(c) (3) charitable organizations.
