Any medium that follows the theme will be accepted. The Fee is $35 for up to 3 entries. Entry fees are non-refundable and must be paid by the entry deadline. If you have an accepted piece that you choose not to show, you will not be eligible for submitting to WAM juried shows for three years. No substitutions may be made once work is juried into the show. Work presented should be considered for general viewing audiences of all ages.

Juror Shelley Freese:

Shelley grew up on a windy wheat farm on Montana's Rocky Mountain Front. Her nature-based watercolors were inspired by hours spent exploring the fields and pastures, and her earliest memories are of strong color contrasts: a golden straw stack against a bright blue sky, or a red plastic laundry basket resting on green grass. She lives and paints in southeastern Montana, where she established her art business, Dancing Cow Studio, in 1997. Believing that childhood should be celebrated, Shelley creates custom-commissioned art for kids. Mother Goose rhyme paintings, "Unusual Alphabet" initial painting prints, and original author/illustrator book projects are also specialties.

AWARDS:

The juror will award cash awards totaling $1000. There will also be a director and people’s choice award presented by the Executive Director.

ELIGIBILITY:

This exhibit is open to all artists 18 or older.

Entries must be original works of art, entirely the entrant’s work, and executed within the last two years. Hand-pulled prints from intaglio, woodblock, or serigraph are acceptable. Art produced in workshops or under supervision is not eligible.

Conditions:

Entries will be selected for the exhibition from digital images only.

Digital images are not to include matting or frame. Artwork must be a minimum of 12” on one side, height or width. Artwork should not exceed 60” in any direction. For best results, make sure your image is 1920 pixels @ 72dpi on the longest side. Must be under 4 mb.

Images should be in JPEG format, RGB color.

2D work does not have to be framed but must be ready to hang in the gallery. Work does not have to be for sale.

TRAVELING COLLECTION:

A committee will select approximately 25 pieces for a representative smaller exhibition that will travel to galleries/art centers in eastern Montana for the remainder of 2022. If you wish to be considered for the traveling show, please indicate on your entry form in the description box. There is a size limitation on this collection.

SALES:

If artwork is sold, the Art Center will retain a 35% commission. All items sold included in the traveling collection must remain as part of the exhibition until its conclusion.

LIABILITY:

WAM employees take the utmost care when handling artwork; however, neither the WAM nor their agents will be held liable for work that is shipped damaged or is lost. Shipping insurance is the responsibility of the artist. While at the WAM, the art is insured.

FRAMING & PRESENTATION:

All 2D and 3D work must be ready to hang by gallery standards, if applicable. Frames must be in good condition and undamaged. Matting is optional. 3D work that hangs must have the appropriate device for installation.
