Judy Schroeder took any art class offered in school and graduated from the University of Redlands as an art major with a special secondary credential in art. She studied with many notable painters and in 1994, she opened a studio in Old Town Orange, subsequently moving to a larger space and opening a gallery and studio in 1998. The gallery closed in 2015 and she continued to offer workshops until the end of 2020 when she moved her studio home.

Schroeder was one of 17 artists selected worldwide to pen a chapter for Work Small, Learn Big: Sketching with Pen & Watercolor, a book published by International Artist Magazine in 2003. In 2006, at the invitation of the Orange Public Library Foundation, she created 13 paintings for the new main library history walk. Schroeder served on the National Watercolor Society Board for several years and is currently the Newsletter Editor for Watercolor West.
