“PICKING UP THE PIECES” 

A VIRTUAL ON-LINE JURIED SHOW 

November 1 - 30, 2021 

 

JUROR and SELECTION OF AWARDS ~ LA MONTE WESTMORELAND 

Influenced by the works of Romare Bearden, La Monte Eugene Westmoreland has been an active artist for the past forty years. His personal and humanistic work is included in over 160 prestigious art collections worldwide. His images have also appeared in over 50 books and catalogues, as well as numerous articles and reviews in art magazines, periodicals and newspapers. La Monte’s work is focused on his political and humorous perceptions of his African American life experience. He uses Pop Icons such as watermelons, Uncle Ben, and Aunt Jemima that represent black imagery and illustrate racial stereotypes from both the past and present.

CALL FOR ENTRIES OPENS: Saturday, May 1, 2021
DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION: Wednesday, October 13, 2021, Midnight PDT
NOTIFICATION OF ACCEPTANCE: Wednesday, October 20, 2021
RECEPTION AND AWARDS: Friday, November 12, 2021 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm PST

ENTRIES MUST QUALIFY AS FOLLOWS: 

COLLAGE: Flat or very low relief.
MIXED MEDIA COLLAGE: Moderate relief and/or different techniques and materials.
ASSEMBLAGE: Highly dimensional, multiple three-dimensional elements, and/or freestanding.
DIGITAL COLLAGE: Combination of multiple images. Digital manipulation of single image does not qualify. 

RULES OF ENTRY: Please read carefully! 

ELIGIBILITY 

Two- or three-dimensional collage, mixed-media collage, assemblage and digital collage accepted. As an OPEN exhibit, CAA members and non-members may enter a maximum of four works. 

Work shown at any prior juried CAA exhibit is not allowed.

Works done under direct supervision of an instructor are ineligible.

Once artwork is accepted the artist may not withdraw it. No substitutions of accepted works will be
allowed. No artwork may be removed from the virtual exhibit prior to closing of exhibit, including sold artwork.

ENTRY FEES 

Members: $25 for one, $5 each for up to 3 additional entries - Total 4 entries max. 

Non-Members: $35 for one, $5 each for up to 3 additional entries - Total 4 entries max.

Payment is made through Online Juried Shows via credit card or PayPal. Fees are non-refundable. There is no guarantee of acceptance into the show.
Note: try to enter early, as last day entries may cause errors due to overloading the site.

FORMAT FOR DIGITAL IMAGES (JPGS) AND HOW TO SEND THEM
All entries must be submitted in a digital JPEG format.
Label each entry with the Name_Title_Media_size. Do NOT use all CAPS or all lowercase.
Take photo of art with a digital camera and crop out background, or if that is not possible, use a black background without a mat and not through glass. Image quality is critical! Poor photography and presentation will affect acceptance by the juror. The digital image must represent the artwork. ACCEPTED ART
This will be a Virtual show. Do Not Send In Your Artwork. All accepted entries and winners will be displayed as an on-line exhibit on the SFVACC/SCORE website, https://sfvacc.org and on the Online Juried Shows website’s “Published Shows”.

REPRODUCTION OF ARTWORK IMAGES
By entering this exhibit, artist agrees that any accepted artwork may be reproduced for advertising, marketing, and promotional purposes for this exhibit or future exhibits without consent of or notification to the Artist or the Artist’s agent.

SALES
All sales will be handled by the individual Artist. Any and all sales tax will be the responsibility of the Artist. No commission will be taken by the Collage Artists of America. All sales are final.
If a sale is made, it is the responsibility of the Artist to notify CAA or Exhibits Chair so that the sale can be indicated on the website.
