Atmospheric Impressions


The Randy Higbee Gallery is hosting the Atmospheric Impressions Exhibition and Sale composed of paintings in the Tonalist style. Tonalist paintings are softly expressive without strong contrast, and are often landscapes painted at twilight or sunset, with the absence of strong contrast.  They may also be figurative or still life, following the same guidelines of a muted pallet with close color harmonies and simplified compositions, omitting unnecessary detail.  


This will be an exciting online exhibition and sale that will be displayed on our new website, This website displays exhibitions that have been curated through the website.

Entry fees will be $8.00 per image. This fee will include the cost of entering the website. All entries must be for sale.


Artists are invited to submit up to 10 entries measuring 4x4 at the smallest and 8x10 at the largest, which have been framed in the Taos Mini frame. Your entry image must include the frame. These frames are for sale on the website, and can be either straight in or floater.   


There is a $100 order minimum on Once the order minimum is met you will be able to check out.


All artists are guaranteed at least 1 accepted entry, and a maximum of 6 entries will be accepted from any artist to be displayed on the website for sale. This will be an online only show.   


Commission will take a 15% commission. The Randy Higbee Gallery is waiving any commission.  The artist will receive an 85% commission. The gallery will have the option to give an additional 15% discount to its base of art resellers, artists purchasing from artists and clients who make multiple purchases. This 15% discount is taken off the retail price and is shared by artist and the gallery. This discount has been a crucial marketing tool for getting our sales into the 150+ numbers.



Important!  All pricing must include shipping to anywhere in the Continental United States. All pieces for sale on the website include free shipping for the buyer, so please make sure you realistically calculate a shipping price and include it in the price of your artwork.

All pieces must be for sale (Exhibition and Sale!) and priced reasonably. Do not price your pieces too low. Do not price your pieces too high. We will not have anything exhibited under $250.


Format and Media

This is a Tonalist show and all pieces must be entered and pictured in Taos Mini frames. All 2D media (oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, photography, etc.) will be accepted. Anything that fits into a Taos Mini frame straight-in or floater, for sale on Eligibility is open to all artists whom are able to ship their art to the Continental United States. 


Entry and Fee Application

There is an $8 fee for each entry. You may enter up to 10 pieces. 


Prizes and Awards

There will be 10 $100 certificates for the websites and a $500 cash award to the artist awarded Best in Show.  Award certificates must be used within 90 days of close of show.  Once again, your artwork will be posted for sale on the website where you will receive an 85% commission on all sales.




We will need a signed contract returned to before your piece is displayed on the website. Because all artists are guaranteed at least 1 accepted entry, contracts will be emailed out as artists enter and complete their payments on Notifications of accepted pieces will be sent Wednesday, April 7, 2021 


Shipping of Sold Artwork

This is an online show posted on the website. You should have your piece framed and ready to ship within 7 days of you being notified of the sale. Your commission check (85%) will be sent to you within 10 days of close of exhibition, pending verification the collector has received purchased artwork.


Important Dates:


Entry Deadline: Monday, May 10th, at 11:59 pm Pacific Standard Time


Notification of Acceptance: You will be notified of acceptance on Wednesday, May 12th.


Opening Date:  The show will open on Saturday, May 15th


Closing date: The show will close and be removed from the website on Tuesday, June 1st, 2021 at 11:59 pm.
