THE PRINTMAKER’S HAND V

EVENT DESCRIPTION
THE PRINTMAKER’S HAND V is a biennial juried show of fine, hand-pulled prints by contemporary printmakers, sponsored by Corvidae Press. Showcasing both traditional and new approaches to techniques including intaglio, relief, lithography, serigraphy, and mixed media hand-pulled prints, this show will be juried by Marit Berg, Art Professor and Printmaker, Tacoma Community College, Tacoma, WA.
The show will be held at Northwind Art, Best Gallery, 701 Water Street, Port Townsend Washington for two months, from September 2-October 31, 2021.
CORVIDAE PRESS is a non-profit printmaker’s cooperative in Port Townsend, WA that maintains a non-toxic print studio in partnership with Centrum, a regional arts organization. Corvidae Press supports print artists through membership and community education about printmaking.
ELIGIBILITY
Only hand-pulled prints will be accepted. Works may combine traditional printmaking techniques with digital or other media. Entries must be original, entirely the work of the artist, and executed in the past 3 years without the supervision of an instructor. Entries must not be copies, derivatives or based on other copyrighted or published prints. No giclee prints will be accepted.
Prints must not exceed 36” wide including frame, must be sturdily framed, wired, ready to hang.
Artist must be at least 18 years old and a resident of the United States or Canada.
FEES
A non-refundable entry fee of $45 is required for up to a maximum of 3 entries.

JUROR
Marit Berg is an artist and educator. She is tenured Professor and Chair of the Visual Arts, at Tacoma Community College, in Washington where she has taught printmaking for 20 years. She specializes in the areas of intaglio, relief, and screenprint. Marit is a recipient of the Artist Trust award GAP grant and is in the collection of University of Washington and Seattle Public Utilities. Her work has been featured in Calliope Magazine and the Palouse Journal. Marit is represented by Davidson Galleries, Seattle, WA, and Brumfield Gallery, Astoria, OR. Marit lives and works in Tacoma, Washington, with her daughter; three chickens; a corn snake, and a corgi, named Merlin.

ENTERING YOUR IMAGES
Help in sizing and photographing can be found at
https://www.onlinejuriedshows.com/Help.aspx. For best results, images should be 1920 pixels and 72 dpi on longest side.
CONDITIONS
Artist may not substitute another work for selected work, alter sales price, or withdraw a work after it has been accepted. CORVIDAE PRESS reserves the right to refuse any work that does not match the digital image or meet media,size or framing criteria.
SALES
Should your work sell, Northwind Art will pay you 60% of retail price. All work must be priced and sold with frame included. Northwind Art will pay WA state sales tax.
CORVIDAE PRESS reserves the right to photograph entries for purposes of publicity, documentation and education.
Shipped works must be framed in plexiglass and include a prepaid return label if you wish to have it returned by mail. Hand delivered works may be framed with glass. Work will be returned in the shipping materials in which it was received.
LIABILITY
Although utmost care will be taken during the receiving, installation, exhibition and return of work, neither CORVIDAE PRESS or Northwind Art will assume responsibility for loss or damage incurred. Artists should carry their own insurance. Work should not be so fragile that shipping or public display is potentially harmful to the work or to the viewer.
Submission of work to The Printmaker’s Hand V constitutes agreement to the liability policy stated above.
