Peninsula Art League
2020 Open Juried Show

Peninsula Art League

2020 Open Juried Show Revised

 October 2 through December 4

The Peninsula Art League is pleased to announce that this year’s 18th Annual Open Juried Show will be held as an Online Show. We regret that the beautiful Harbor History Museum www.harborhistorymuseum.org has been closed due to COVID 19. We hope that next year we will again show there in downtown Gig Harbor with it’s large dedicated gallery and elegant com- mon space. We elected to continue our tradition so our national and international artists have the opportunity to show their wonderful art. With COVID 19 considerations, a virtual show was the only option. Prizes awarded to entrants in the 2019 Open Show, totaled nearly $6,000. Monetary awards this year will of necessity be more moderate. Read on for more infor- mation on entering and the show details. We’ve extended the deadlines since there will be no shipped art this year.

Juror: Bonnie Griffith:

As a child of artist parents, I grew up on a ranch near the Missouri Breaks in central Montana. We lived in a remote area and that allowed for a lot of self-directed entertainment - drawing, painting, reading, horseback riding and daily ranch chores. I was a self-proclaimed artist at age 5, getting into my mother's paints and paper, and create I did. Landscape shapes, texture and color were observed and studied. Famous artists like Russell, O’Keefe and Payne were favorite sources of reference. I don't remember ever being "bored" because there was always something to do that interested me! Pretty much all of that stuck with me through a career in Radiology Sciences; showing work in galleries and exhibits during that time. In the mid 1990's my art became a full time endeavor.
I have studied with instructors such as Robert Moore, Lorenzo Chavez, Ned Mueller and others in the quest to strengthen and develop my style of representational work. I am a signature member and the Secretary for the Pastel Society of the West Coast, a signature member of and past President for the Northwest Pastel Society, member of the Landscape Artists International (juried member- ship), Plein Air Painters of Idaho, Plein Air Painters of New Mexico, Plain Air Painters of Washington (PAWA), an associate member of Women Artist of the West and an exhibiting member of the Treasure Valley Artists Alliance. Currently I serve as the vice chair for the Meridian (ID) Arts Commission, have served as the Executive Director of WaterWorks Art Museum, Miles City, MT and curator for several galleries. It has been with pleasure that I have been selected to jury and judge art shows and plein air competitions in the western US.

I teach workshops in pastel painting techniques (Studio and Plein Air) and multimedia art.
