·         Original artwork only.  All subjects and styles are eligible, from traditional to contemporary within the exhibition theme.

·         Work copied from images, paintings, or photographs, regardless of copyright issues, that have been published or appeared on the internet, DVD, or any publication or that are likely to be published in any format whatsoever shall not be eligible.  It is permissible to gather and use multiple images, paintings, or photographs as resource material to create an original composition. It is permissible to use photos from an individual that you personally know with their permission providing the individual is the source of the image, and the image is not rendered as an exact copy and meets all of the criteria stated above.  The artist must provide the original source image or written permission upon request if a question arises about the originality of the work. Any work that cannot be verified will be removed from the show.

·         All artwork must be completed with 80% traditional soft pastel as a final layer; underpainting as part of the process is acceptable.  No oil pastels.

·         Work done under supervision in a class or workshop is not eligible.

·         Paintings must have been completed in the last two years and not previously shown in any 3CPS exhibitions.  Any painting identified as shown previously in a 3CPS exhibition will be rejected OR, if discovered after jurying, will remain in the exhibition and the artist will be suspended from the next two 3CPS exhibitions.  The painting will also not be eligible for any awards.

Entry form must be filled out in its entirety.  List sizes of framed work to the nearest inch.  Submitted images must not include matting or frame.  Crop the photos to include only the artwork.  Be sure your images are right-side up.

Before uploading your images, make sure they are smaller than 4MB but at least 1920 pixels on the longest side at 72 dpi.  This is best for the judge and juror to view your work.  Images should be in JPEG format, sRGB color space.  Online help for properly sizing your images can be found at  If you need help entering your images or are unable to, please email or call 949-287-8645.

When filling out your artwork information, please be sure that all information is correct, including the spelling of your name and the artwork’s title, as well as pricing of artwork.  All information is entered by the artist and is used AS IS for labels and for any printed or media advertisements.

Accepted paintings must be identical to the submitted digital entry.  No substitutions or copies are allowed.  All work accepted and displayed must remain for the duration of the exhibit as shown in the Schedule of Events Dates & Deadlines above.

Cash and/or merchandise awards will be presented at the opening reception on the date listed above.  All awards made at the discretion of our judge.  All awards will be final with no exchanges or substitutions.

Framing Requirements

Size: Artwork submitted cannot be smaller than 8 inches nor larger than 32 inches in any dimension (not including mat and frame).

All work must be professional in appearance and delivered framed and ready to hang to gallery quality standards, i.e., frames must be suitable for the work and undamaged, with D-ring hangers and strong wire installed on the frame.  Professional quality anti-reflective glass is strongly recommended.  If shipping work, consider protection and safety of the artwork as well as shipping guidelines.

Plexiglass glazing must be professional grade to be accepted.  Please include a note alerting 3CPS that you have used plexiglass.  Scratched, fogged or inferior plexiglass will not be accepted.

Paintings may be with or without mats.  Artwork not meeting the above standards will be returned at the artist’s expense and will not be hung in the show or be eligible to receive an award.

All work submitted must be for sale and reasonably priced.  There will be a 30% commission on all sold items (20% commission to Central California State Parks Association and 10% to 3CPS), and sales tax will be added to all sales.  Central Coast State Parks Association will handle all sales in house.  No work will be released before the close of the exhibit.  3CPS will pay artists for awards and/or sales within 30 days of the end of the show.

Artwork will be handled with care; however, neither the California Central Coast Pastel Society (3CPS) as an entity, its officers, directors, members/volunteers, nor the Central California State Parks Association and/or Morro Bay State Park Natural History Museum, or their volunteers, employees or agents will be responsible for any loss or damage to frames or paintings.  Glass is used at the artist's risk and the artist is responsible for replacing broken glass or frames.  By submitting an entry, the artist is agreeing to all conditions stated in the prospectus.  3CPS recommends that artists carry separate insurance. Permission to reproduce the artist's work for 3CPS publicity purposes is deemed given by the artist with both the entry and acceptance of their work.  The artist grants permission to reproduce work for publicity purposes as well as future advertising, both in print and digital galleries.  Copyright will be attributable to the artist.

Entry into this exhibit constitutes agreement with the conditions set forth in this prospectus and your completed Entry Form is your commitment to participate.  Your Entry Form is a legally binding contract to deliver artwork that has been juried into this show.  If, after being juried in, an entrant chooses not to deliver artwork, he or she may not enter a 3CPS show for a period of 2 years.
