Peninsula Art League’s 2019 Open Juried Show Workshop: September 7-9, 2019 Fee: $395.00

Dynamic Water in Watercolor Workshop with Lorraine Watry

Dates: Sept. 7, 8, 9, 2019
Location: Donna Trent’s Studio Gig Harbor, WA
Workshop Description: As the saying goes, “You can’t cross the sea merely by standing and staring at the water”. The same holds true for watercolor, to truly learn the medium you need to jump in feet first and get wet (so to speak); this workshop will help you do just that while we focus on painting the many forms of water. The first part of the workshop will be spent creating small studies to explore waterfalls, waves, lake reflections, puddles, and even glasses of water. Lorraine will demonstrate steps in the process and share lots of watercolor tips and tricks along the way. During the latter half of the workshop, students will apply what they have learned in the studies by choosing one facet of water and painting a larger water scene. Students may work from their own images or use an image that is available at the workshop. The fundamentals of watercolor and the application of design principals will be discussed and demonstrated so that each student will have the tools to complete their own successful painting.
