Santa Cruz Art League creates an environment where local as well as regional & national artists display their art. The many classes in art and performance provide a space for learning and enhancing the creative process. Established in 1919, Santa Cruz Art League is Santa Cruz County’s longest standing Arts organization, and is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit.

Exhibition Details
For almost nine decades, the Santa Cruz Art League’s Statewide Landscape Exhibition has showcased the work of artists across the Golden State who depict California’s foothills, mountains, seashores, and deserts of the interior and coastal regions.

Open to statewide residents. Any media will be accepted, 2D & 3D. The SCAL reserves the right to decline or remove any work that does not
conform to the agreement.

Open to United States residents, must be 18 years old or older.  The Santa Cruz Art League reserves the right to decline or remove any work that does not conform to the agreement.

Entry fee paid to Non-Refundable.
SCAL Members - $35 for one entry, $10 for each additional entry up to 5.
Non-Members - $40 for one entry, $10 for each additional entry up to 5.

For best results, make sure your image is 1920 pixels @72 dpi on the longest side.  Images should be in JPEG format, sRGB color space.  Help in photographing your work and properly sizing your images can be found at:  If you need help entering your images or are unable to, please email or call 949-287-8645.

Juror: Susan Hillhouse Leask
Susan Hillhouse Leask, an independent curator, is currently working on exhibitions for the San Jose Museum of Art and the Crocker Art Museum. She has served as exhibition curator and interim senior curator for the San Jose Museum of; curator of collections and exhibitions at the Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History; chief curator at the Triton Museum of Art in Santa Clara, California, and curator of education at the Triton Museum of Art. She has an MA in Museum Studies from San Francisco State University and a BA in Art History from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Additionally, she teaches art history at California State University Monterey Bay in Seaside, California.

All work must be for sale. Artists agree to donate 45% of any sale of work to Santa Cruz Art League (SCAL)
or 30% of sale if SCAL Member. Artist will be paid three weeks from end of show.
SCAL insures work only after installation. Maximum insured value $1000 regardless of price.

Juror will grant $2,000 in Awards.

Timeline of events:

Prospectus Online: Jan 19, Friday.
Deadline: April 16, Monday (11:59pm).

  • Mail Accept/Decline out:  May 4, Friday.
  • Drop off of artwork:

Shipping Drop Off: June 26, 27, 28, 29, (Tuesday – Friday, 10am to 5pm)
Drop off: July 1, Sunday, 12-4pm & July 2, Monday, 1-3pm.
Work must arrive on required dates.
Pickup: Aug 5, Sunday, 4-6pm & Aug 6, Monday, 1-3pm.
$5 a day Late Pickup fee.

  • Work requiring special handling is to be installed & removed by artist.
  • No work may be substituted or exchanged for any reason.
  • Work must be original, and for sale, ready to install.
  • Shipped entries must have a Prepaid Return Shipping Label (UPS & FedEx)
  • $20 check for unpacking/repacking fee per box.
  • Artist bio and/or brief information on artwork with photo is encouraged for Gallery Bio Book, when accepted.
  • Gala reception.

Maximum insurance, insured value $1,000 regardless of price.
