This is a call to artists who are members of Oceanside Museum of Art Artist Alliance: You are invited to submit any number of entries for consideration in this juried art exhibition presented by Oceanside Museum of Art (OMA) that will take place at L Street Fine Art Gallery in downtown San Diego.

Artists who are not a member of the OMA Artist Alliance but are interested in participating in this exhibition must submit their membership application for Oceanside Museum of Art with the Artist Alliance add-on before submitting artwork for consideration. Details on how to join can be found in this prospectus.

EXTERNAL DIMENSIONS (INCLUDING FRAME) OF THE ARTWORK MUST BE LISTED IN THE TITLE OF THE PIECE, HEIGHT x WIDTH – For example, the title of your submission might be: Mona Lisa 42.7x30.7 (that is the title of the artwork with the dimensions of the frame, with no inch” marks) If you are unsure of the actual dimensions of your submissions, please measure for the sake of accuracy.

SUMMARY
•    Fees: $25 for up to five entries, $10 for each additional entry.  Entry fees are non-refundable and must be paid by the entry deadline.
•    Artwork details:
      o    Original two-dimensional work, no larger than 60” tall x 40” wide INCLUDING FRAME.
      o    Original wall hanging three-dimensional work, no larger than 60” tall x 40” wide x 4” deep INCLUDING FRAME. Artwork must be wall mounted and ADA compliant (protruding no more than 4” from the wall).
      o    Artwork may be in any media or style.
•    Eligibility: Must be current Oceanside Museum of Art member with the Artist Alliance add-on.
•    Location: L Street Fine Art Gallery, 628 L St, San Diego, CA 92101, Across from Omni Hotel.
•    Submission: All submissions will be taken through onlinejuriedshows.com.
•    Up to two (2) entries per artist may be selected by the juror.

GUIDELINES
•    You are encouraged to submit a variety of sizes! Due to the unique layout of the gallery there are many spaces for smaller artwork.
•    Artwork containing nudity will not be selected.
•    EXTERNAL DIMENSIONS OF THE ARTWORK (INCLUDING FRAME) MUST BE LISTED IN THE TITLE OF THE PIECE, HEIGHT x WIDTH – For example, the title of your submission might be: Mona Lisa 42.7x30.7 (that is the title of the artwork with the dimensions of the frame, with no inch” marks).
•    If you are unsure of the actual dimensions of your submissions, please measure for the sake of accuracy.
•    If artwork arrives at the gallery larger than submitted dimensions, it will be rejected and returned at artist’s expense.
•    Artwork requiring special or unusual lighting or methods of installation cannot be accommodated.
•    If the artwork is not framed, edges must be finished, gallery wrapped, or painted out.
•    D Rings must be installed on the back at precisely equal distances from the top. Please no wires.
•    Artwork must be delivered to L Street Gallery during the specified dates/times. If there is a conflict please contact katie@oma-online.org to assist with arrangements.

TIMELINE
•    Submissions open: June 16, 2017
•    Submissions close: August 16, 2017, 11:59pm Pacific Standard Time (PST)
•    Final acceptances announced: On or before September 5, 2017
•    Artwork drop-off at L Street Gallery: STRICTLY Saturday, October 7, 10:00am-5:00pm, and Sunday, October 8, 9:00-10:00am (Dates subject to change)
•    Exhibition on view: Early October 9, 2017¬–early January, 2018 (Dates subject to change)
•    Reception: October 21, 2017, 6:00-8:00pm (Dates subject to change)

JUROR BIOGRAPHY
Larry Baza is a professional arts administrator with more than 40 years of experience in advocating for the arts at the local, state and national level. He has served on the boards of various nonprofit arts organizations and provided his expertise as a panelist for arts commissions and foundations. In his professional career, Mr. Baza has directed and managed San Diego non-profit arts organizations and businesses. His wealth of knowledge and experience includes panel participation with many arts funders including the National Endowment for the Arts, California Arts Council (Appointed Member), City of San Diego’s Commission for Arts and Culture (Appointed Chairman), and the Port of San Diego’s Public Art Committee. Mr. Baza is a Partner in Noel-Baza Fine Art Gallery representing the art of a select group of San Diego artists.  He has been a juror for arts exhibitions and competitions including the San Diego Art Institute and The Annual Competition of the William B. Cannon Gallery in Carlsbad, California among many others.

DETAILED GUIDELINES FOR ENTRY

1.    ENTRY DEADLINE: 11:59 PM Pacific Standard Time (PST), August 16, 2017.

2.    EXHIBITION:  Artworks will be chosen by Larry Baza, Chair of the San Diego Commission for Arts and Culture and member of the California Arts Council, to be exhibited early October 2017 through early January 2018 at L Street Fine Art Gallery, located at 628 L St, San Diego, CA 92101, across from Omni Hotel. Due to its close proximity to the Omni hotel, the Gaslamp District, and the nearby convention center, this location sees heavy foot traffic. An exhibition of this length will be seen by thousands of visitors.

Selection of artworks for inclusion in the exhibition is entirely the decision of the Juror. The juror’s selections are final. Entrants contacting the juror in advance of selections will be disqualified.  

3.    ELIGIBILITY: To submit artwork for consideration in this exhibition, you must be a current member of Oceanside Museum of Art with the Artist Alliance add-on. Artists who are not a member of the museum and Artist Alliance but are interested in participating in this exhibition must submit their membership application before submitting artwork through Online Juried Shows. 4.    ONLINE ENTRY PROCESS: Entries will be accepted exclusively through onlinejuriedshows.com. When entering for the first time, follow the instructions for opening an account and creating a password. Record your password for reuse in all future entries with onlinejuriedshows.com. Scroll down to locate the exhibition “Artist Alliance at L Street 2017” and follow the directions for entry. When filling out your artwork information for this show, please be sure all information and spelling is correct. All information entered by the artist will be used “as is” throughout the entire exhibition. Entry form must be completely and accurately filled out providing all requested information regarding the artwork and the artist. No changes can be made after the entry deadline, 11:59 PM Pacific Standard Time (PST), August 16, 2017.

5.    DIGITAL IMAGE SPECIFICATIONS
       •    Entry form must be filled out in its entirety.  List sizes up to the nearest inch.  Submitted images must not include matting or frame.  Crop the photos to include only the artwork.  Be sure your images are right-side-up.
       •    Before uploading your images, make sure they are smaller than 4MB, but at least 1920 pixels on the longest side at 72 dpi.  Images should be in JPEG format, sRGB color space.  Help in photographing your work and properly sizing your images can be found at:  www.OnlineJuriedShows.com/help.aspx.  If you need help entering your images or are unable to, please write to us here:  https://onlinejuriedshows.com/Contact.aspx
    •    Please add Services@OnlineJuriedShows.com and Manager@OnlineJuriedShows.com to your safe senders list to ensure notifications are received.
    •    Oceanside Museum of Art is not responsible for any technical difficulties with artwork submission. All submission issues will be handled exclusively by Online Juried Shows.

6.    Complete instructions are found on Important: the quality of photography contributes greatly to the clarity, sharpness, color, lighting and understanding of your artwork and assists jurors in their decision-making process. If an artwork does not match the appearance of the electronic entry image, it may be rejected after delivery. Please submit your image(s) accordingly.

7.    USE OF IMAGES: By submitting images to the exhibition, the entrant warrants that he/she created each of the artwork(s) submitted for consideration in the exhibition and that he/she possesses all legal rights to them. The entrant agrees that all submitted images selected by our judge may be used for marketing and promotional purposes related to the exhibition. By providing the images and other information through this entry, the entrant gives permission for OMA and L Street Fine Art to use images of accepted artwork for promotion, reference, printed materials and online postings as well as in future advertising. All images used by OMA and L Street Fine Art shall have a credit line of the artist. Copyright and all other rights remain that of the artist.

8.    ENTRY FEE: At the end of the entry process, payment can be made using or a valid credit card or PayPal. Entry fees are nonrefundable and must be paid by the entry deadline. Unlimited numbers of entries per Entrant are allowed. Entry Fees are $25 for up to five entries and $10 for each additional entry.

9.    ELIGIBILITY OF ARTWORK: Artwork may be two-dimensional, no larger than 60” tall x 40” wide INCLUDING FRAME. Three-dimensional artwork must be wall-hanging and no larger than 60” tall x 40” wide x 4” deep INCLUDING FRAME. Submissions are open to visual artists working in all media. Originals only.

       •    Artwork containing nudity will not be selected.

       •    Artwork requiring special or unusual lighting or methods of installation cannot be accommodated.

       •    If artwork not framed, edges must be finished, gallery wrapped, or painted out.

       •    D Rings must be installed on the back at precisely equal distances from the top. Please no wires.

10.    NOTIFICATION OF ACCEPTANCE: Entrants whose work is accepted will receive an emailed notice from onlinejuriedshows.com (see yellow highlighted section on your payment receipt) on or before September 5, 2017. Exhibiting artists will also receive a loan form. Detailed instructions will be given in the acceptance letter.

11.    CONDITIONS: Final acceptance of entries in the exhibition is up to the Juror’s and Gallery Director’s discretion after viewing the delivered artwork. If an artwork does not match the appearance of the electronic entry, if actual dimensions of artwork are larger than noted with the submission, if artwork requires special or unusual lighting or methods of installation that cannot be accommodated, or if the workmanship, framing, or edge finish is not suitable quality for gallery presentation, the artwork will be disqualified and returned at the artist’s expense.

       •    OMA will assume insurance responsibility for the object from the time the artwork is delivered to L Street Gallery until the installation of the artwork. L Street Gallery will assume insurance responsibility for the artwork during installation and while on exhibition.

       •    OMA and L Street Gallery will exercise the usual care in handling and will provide coverage for the replacement value of the work or the fair costs of repair. They cannot be responsible for minor wear resulting from normal handling. Each artist in the exhibition will be required to sign a loan agreement with OMA for loan of the work. Signing of the loan agreement will signify that you allow OMA to act as your agent in agreeing to consignment terms and all other terms and conditions of the loan.

ARTWORK DROP-OFF AT L STREET GALLERY:  TO BE ANNOUNCED MID JUNE
•    STRICTLY Saturday, October 7, 10:00am-5:00pm, and Sunday, October 8, 9:00-10:00am (Dates subject to change.)

Artwork must be delivered to L Street Gallery during the specified dates/times without exception. If there is a conflict, please contact katie@oma-online.org to assist with arrangements.

All work delivered must be ready to hang with D-rings installed on reverse at precisely equal distance from the top of artwork. Please no wires.  If work that is not ready to hang is delivered it will not be included in the exhibition or be accepted at drop off.

The artist must remove all packing material at the time of drop off.  Packing material will not be stored or provided at time of drop off and pick up.

12.    ARTWORK PICK UP: Artwork must remain with the exhibition through the conclusion of the show in early January, 2018.  In November, participating artists will be notified of January pick up date(s) and time(s).

13.    SALES: All sales will be transacted through the Omni front desk. If the artist chooses to list their artwork for sale, exhibited work will be available for purchase during the course of the exhibition at the price specified on the title card for each item. However, artwork must remain with the exhibition through the run of the show.

The gallery director will alert artists if their artwork sells and will supply a W-9 form to be completed by the artist. 50% of the proceeds of the sale will be distributed to the artist.

Signing of the loan agreement will signify that you allow OMA to act as your agent in agreeing to consignment terms.

14.    ABOUT OMA ARTIST ALLIANCE: The Artist Alliance is an affiliate group of membership dedicated to the support of Oceanside Museum of Art. Artist Alliance provides opportunities for interaction, visibility, and growth for artists in the region.

The mission of Oceanside Museum of Art is to educate and inspire the public through a diverse range of engaging exhibitions and programs that connect people with regional, as well as national and global, artists and art forms of the 20th and 21st centuries. OMA operates as a private, non-profit 501 (c) (3) corporation.

15.    THE ENTRY FORM IS A CONTRACT: By submitting this entry form, the submitter agrees to all terms as stated above.
