Judge of Selections and Awards
Desmond O'Hagan is Master Pastelist with the Pastel Society of America and was inducted into the International Association of Pastel Societies' "Master Circle" in 2005. He is listed in Who's Who in American Art, Who's Who in America, and in the Hall of Fame at the Art Institute of Colorado.  Desmond O’Hagan has long been considered one of the leading urban-scape artists in the world and has won many major awards for his artwork to include the George Innes, Jr. Memorial Award from the Salmagundi Club, and the Top Five Plein Air Paintings Award at the "Altitude & Attitude" Exhibition in Denver, Colorado.  For years, his artwork has been selected for inclusion in numerous prestigious exhibitions across America and he has exhibited artwork in Japan, China, and France.  Born in Wiesbaden, Germany and raised in the United States, Desmond has been professionally painting for 30 years.  He resides in Denver, Colorado, where he devotes his time to his art in oils and pastels, and traveling throughout the world. Awards
More than $6,500 in cash and merchandise awards including: Best-in-Show $1,500 cash award.

Eligibility
ORIGINAL ARTWORK ONLY. Open to artists 18 or older residing in the United States and Canada.  All paintings must be the artist’s own original work and at least 80% soft pastels (no oil pastels).  All accepted work must have been completed within the last two years and may not have been shown in a previous Shades of Pastel exhibition.  Work is ineligible if it was:  1) produced whole or in part in an instructor-led class or workshop; or 2) copied substantially from the work of other artists, from published materials, or from photo reference material belonging to others.  Maximum size of accepted work is no more than 42” on the longest dimension, including frame. All manner of subject and style are eligible.  Paintings delivered to the exhibit must be identical to the accepted digital image.

Procedure for Entry
Digital entries ONLY via www.OnlineJuriedShows.com Submissions.
•    Entry form must be filled out in its entirety.  List sizes up to the nearest inch.  Submitted images must not include matting or frame.  Crop the photos to include only the artwork.  Be sure your images are right-side-up.
•    Before uploading your images, make sure they are smaller than 4MB, but at least 1920 pixels on the longest side at 72 dpi.  Images should be in JPEG format, sRGB color space.  Help in photographing your work and properly sizing your images can be found at:  www.OnlineJuriedShows.com/help.aspx.  If you need help entering your images or are unable to, please write to us here:  https://onlinejuriedshows.com/Contact.aspx

Fees
Maryland Pastel Society Members
• US $30 for 1 image, an additional $5 per image, up to 3 images total
Non-Maryland Pastel Society Members
• US $40 for 1 image, an additional $5 per image, up to 3 images total.
Entry fees are nonrefundable and must be paid by the entry deadline.  You may pay via Credit Card or PayPal in US dollars.

Liability
The utmost care will be taken in the handling of digital images and paintings. Insurance for all artwork, in situ and in transit, is the responsibility of the participating artist. Neither the Glenview Mansion Art Galleries nor the Maryland Pastel Society may be held liable for loss or damage of artwork. Maryland Pastel Society and Glenview Mansion Galleries reserve the right to reproduce accepted entries in the catalog and for publicity. Copyright will be attributed to the artist. Submission of entry via OnlineJuriedShows.com and corresponding fee shall constitute agreement with ALL conditions set forth in this prospectus.  Permission to reproduce artist’s work for publicity purposes is assumed with acceptance.

Delivery and Shipping of Accepted Work
Detailed delivery and shipping instructions will accompany the notification letter of accepted works.

Framing and Presentation
All works must be appropriately framed under glass or Plexiglas and ready to hang. For larger pieces, please consider using Plexiglas to minimize weight. Matting (neutral) and frames should be simple. Framing must be to gallery quality standards, i.e., frames must be suitable to the work, undamaged, reinforced, and wired to hang (no saw tooth hangers). Paintings delivered damaged, with dirty matting, with broken/inadequate hanging wire or hardware, or an unprofessional presentation will not be hung and will be returned at the artist’s expense.

Sales
The Glenview Mansion Art Galleries retains 25% commission on sales of artwork. Work may be listed as NFS but no “price on request.”  All work displayed must remain for the duration of the exhibition. No work will be released before the close of the exhibition.
