Biennial Quad-State Exhibit

Saturday, May 20 – Friday, July 7, 2017



Prospectus

This juried exhibition highlights some of the best artwork currently produced in the Quad State area: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, and Missouri. The opening reception will be held on Saturday, May 20 from 7- 9 pm with the awards presentation at 7:30 p.m.

Judge: Lauren Haynes is the Curator of Contemporary Art at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. Haynes holds a Bachelor’s degree in Art History from Oberlin College. She is a specialist in African American modern and contemporary art.

Awards: There is $4,650 available for cash awards: Best of Show will receive $1,500, Second place $750, Third place $500, Merit Award $350, four Honorable Mentions at $200 each, one 3-D Recognition at $200, and one Local Artist (living within a 50 mile radius of Quincy, IL) Recognition at $200.

Eligibility: Any artist, 18 years of age or older living in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, and Missouri and working in any medium may enter.  All works must be original and must have been completed within the last 3 years, 2014 through 2017.  Work must not have previously been exhibited at the Quincy Art Center.  The Art Center president and executive director and their families may not enter this exhibit.

Entry: Artists may submit 3 works with a $30 entry fee and up to 2 additional artworks for $10 each. Entry fees are non-refundable and must be paid by the entry deadline.  A maximum of three art works can be accepted by the judge from each artist. All entries must be uploaded by 11:59 p.m. PST on Sunday, April 9 in order to be judged. Images must be entered online at www.OnlineJuriedShows.com.  Entry form must be filled out in its entirety.  List sizes up to the nearest inch.  Submitted images must not include matting or frame.  Crop the photos to include only the artwork.  Be sure your images are right-side-up.

Before uploading your images, make sure they are smaller than 4MB, but at least 1920 pixels on the longest side at 72 dpi.  Images should be in JPEG format, sRGB color space.  Help in photographing your work and properly sizing your images can be found at:  www.OnlineJuriedShows.com/help.aspx.  If you need help entering your images or are unable to, please write to us here:  www.onlinejuriedshows.com/Contact.aspx.

Please add Services@OnlineJuriedShows.com and Manager@OnlineJuriedShows.com to your safe senders list to ensure notifications are received. During the judge’s final on-site judging, previously accepted work not accurately depicted digitally may be rejected.

Notification: On April 19, the accepted artist list will be posted on the web at www.quincyartcenter.org.  Also, an email notification will be sent to all artists entered.

Specifications: Work must be no larger than six feet in any direction. Any work requiring special assembly must have detailed instructions accompanying the piece. Complex installations must be installed by the artist before the final judging. Work that is shipped must be framed with Plexiglas instead of glass.

Liability & Insurance: The Quincy Art Center will provide insurance on all works while they are at the Quincy Art Center.  The Art Center will not assume liability for loss or damage during transit to and from the Art Center; artists are encouraged to secure their own insurance during transit. The Curatorial Staff of the Quincy Art Center will make every effort to handle your artwork with the utmost care. Works remaining at the Art Center after 4 p.m., Saturday, July 15, 2017, may be disposed of at the discretion of the Quincy Art Center.

Sales: The Art Center will retain 30% of the sale price of each item sold. Sale prices must reflect this commission. Sales prices and insurance value must be the same.

Publicity: The Quincy Art Center reserves the right to photograph all exhibited works and use these photographs for catalog, educational, and publicity purposes, including the web site.  Exhibited artists will receive two full color complimentary catalogs. Additional catalogs may be obtained at $2 per copy.

Shipping & Receiving of Accepted Work: Artists are responsible for transit of accepted artwork to and from the Art Center.  Work accepted for exhibition must be received at the Quincy Art Center by Monday, May 8 at 4 p.m. Hand delivered artwork may be dropped off May 5 – May 8, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Accepted works may not be withdrawn prior to the close of the exhibition.

Shipping Instructions: Artwork must be shipped in ready-to-install condition, in a reusable container via U.S. Postal Service, UPS, or FedEx. A prepaid return shipping label from the carrier of the artists' choosing must be clearly labeled and sent in the box with the artwork or a separate envelope. This label will be placed on the reusable container when the artwork is shipped back to the artist. The Quincy Art Center will not be held responsible for damages during shipping to and from the Art Center.                                    Hand-deliveries: Friday, May 5 - Monday, May 8 | 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

                                   Shipments must be planned to arrive by Monday, May 8 at 4 p.m.at the latest.

Saturday, May 20      Opening Reception 7-9 p.m. | Awards Ceremony at 7:30 p.m.

July 7, 8 & 10            Artwork pick-up:
                                   Friday, July 7 | 4 – 5:30 p.m.
                                   Saturday, July 8 & Monday, July 10 | 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

July 10- 12                Artworks with return label provided will be shipped.
