Call for Entries
ELIGIBILITY:
1. Open to all photographers, both amateur and professional, RPS members and non-members.
2. All images must be from an original negative, slide or digital capture by the photographer.
3. All forms of image manipulation are acceptable.
4. Entries must not have been previously displayed in a gallery exhibit at the Roswell Visual Arts Center (RVAC).
ENTRY PROCEDURE:
1. Entry Form: Entry form must be filled out in its entirety. List sizes up to the nearest inch. Submitted images must not include matting or frame. Crop the photos to include only the artwork. Be sure your images are right-side-up.
2. Entry Fee: Each photographer must provide payment: $30 members, $45 non-members for entries of up to six (6) images. Entry fee is non-refundable and must be paid by the entry deadline.
3. This is a juried exhibit; entry does not guarantee that any images will be selected.
4. Image Preparation: Images must be submitted online at www.OnlineJuriedShows.com. For best results, make sure your images are under 4MB (the system will not take anything larger) because the system will automatically resize the images to 1920 pixels @72 dpi on the longest side. Images should be in JPEG format, sRGB color space. Help in photographing your work and properly sizing your images can be found at: www.OnlineJuriedShows.com/help.aspx. 6. Images selected for the exhibit will be judged anonymously within each category.
7. Discretion is requested regarding subject matter of images. The administration of the Roswell Visual Arts Center reserves the right to determine appropriateness of an image for hanging.
8. Deadline for Entries: Entries will be accepted through 11:59 p.m. PST on September 12, 2016.
9. Notification: Entrants will be notified of images selected for the exhibit on or before Friday, September 16, via email.
PREPARATION OF SELECTED IMAGES FOR EXHIBIT:
1. After printing and preparing the final image for the Show, the total matted size must be between 11” x 14” (minimum) and 22” x 28” (maximum). The maximum size of matted panoramic photographs must be 100” total of all four sides. All images (unless printed on canvas) must have at least 2-½" matting on all sides.
2. All photographs must be framed (unless printed on canvas) and ready for hanging. Frames may be any color, of professional quality (no plastic), with hanging wire attached to frame molding sides (not frame backing board). Mats can be of any color, and the image must be covered with regular glass or professional Plexiglas (not regular Plexiglas or plastic). Work that cannot be properly hung will be omitted from the Show.
3. The back of the work must be marked with artist’s name, title of piece, sale price and category.
4. Images ready for hanging with wire must be delivered to the Roswell Visual Arts Center during regular business hours on Friday, October 7, or Saturday, October 8. Images are to be left in the gallery; there is no check-in procedure. If your image must be delivered earlier, please contact Gittel Price at 404-933-5473 or gittelp@bellsouth.net
5. RPS reserves the right to NOT hang any image not professionally prepared as described above.
6. Photographs entered into the Show must remain in the exhibition until the end of the Show on November 18th. Images must be picked up on Saturday, November 19th, or Monday, November 21.
PRIZES:
1. There will be prizes for First ($200), Second ($100), Third ($75), and Fourth ($50) in the four categories of Architecture/Travel, Nature/Landscape, People/Animals and Still Life/Abstract (based on a minimum amount of entries). Honorable Mentions (no $ value) may be awarded at the discretion of the judge.
2. Non-Cash Prizes will be given for RVAC Award, a Blick’s Pick Award, Peachtree Camera, and Robert P. Jones Award.
3. Prizes will be awarded at the opening reception on Friday, October 9th. Prizes not picked up at the reception may be picked up at the Roswell Visual Arts Centers Office during regular business hours within 60 days of the close of the Show. Prizes not claimed during that time will become the property of the Roswell Photographic Society.
4. SALES: Work may be for sale. A 30% commission will apply to all sales; remember when pricing work for sale. The artist retains all rights.
DISCLAIMER: By entering this exhibit you verify that you have read the entry application and rules carefully, understand and agree to comply with all the rules, including the waiver of liability and 30% commission. You also understand that the decisions of the judges are final.
LIABILITY: Care will be taken in handling and securing images. However, Roswell Visual Arts Center, Roswell Recreation and Parks Department and Roswell Photographic Society assume no responsibility for loss or damage to the work.
