This is a juried exhibition sponsored by the La Jolla Art Association (LJAA). The LJAA has its gallery in La Jolla Shores at La Jolla, California. Website: www.lajollaart.org

Subject matter of artwork includes all seven continents, exotic places both here locally and in far off lands. Other worldly art also accepted.

It is open to all media except crafts.

This competition is open to all artists residing in Southern California.

All work entered must be for sale.

All wall hung work must weigh less than 20 pounds, and must be prepared properly for hanging (see below). LJAA reserves the right to reject all work not presentable.

For all work not wall hung, the artist must be prepared to supply a base or pedestal in either black or white (the gallery has only a small supply of pedestals).
Acceptable Work:
- Work on canvas or panel:any medium such as oil, acrylic, montage, photography printed on canvas, etc. Giclees or other forms of reproduction (except for signed & numbered limited editions of prints or photography) are not acceptable.
- Work on paper: any medium such as watercolor, pastel, pencil, photography, etc. Giclees or other forms of reproduction (except for signed & numbered limited editions of prints or photography) are not acceptable.
- Work in 2 or 3 dimensions: ceramic, bronze, cloth, glass, etcetera. Jewelry must be constructed entirely of parts created by the artist (except for the string, clasp, or items such as metals or jewels which have been modified by the artist) and must stay within the parameters of black and white including grayscale.
- Other Media: Mixed media, montage, digital art (digital compositions, assemblages or combination of photographs or other media), etcetera. Giclees or other forms of reproduction (except for signed and numbered limited editions of prints or photography) are not acceptable.
Awards & Prize Money:
Awards will be decided after the show is hung.
There will be a ribbon and cash award for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners as well as a Juror’s Special Award of Recognition
- 1st place: $150.00
- 2nd place: $100.00
- 3rd place: $75.00
- Juror will award honorable mention ribbons at his discretion.
Submission process:
- There is a 20 work limit to the number of works submitted by an artist.
- Please prepare jpegs of your work in advance to make your application process easier.
- Jpegs of work submitted for consideration must have an image resolution of 72 dpi. The largest side should be 1920 pixels, letting the smaller side fall where it may. File size must not exceed 3.9 Mb.
- Smaller sized jpegs may result in your work having a disadvantage when viewed by the juror.
- If a higher resolution image is needed for publicity, one will be requested.
- Only 3-dimensional works may be represented with more than one jpeg per work submitted. Three dimensional works may submit up to 3 jpegs per work.

Juror: Jeff Yeomans
Jeff Yeomans’ work has explored urban and rural perspectives, beach culture and the changing face of contemporary California. During the last decade, Yeomans has received recognition as a respected regional artist. Among his awards is ‘Best Urban Landscape’ at the California Art Club’s 97th Annual Gold Medal Exhibition (2008) and a commission for the Naval Hospital in San Diego giving recognition to the wounded warriors of our military. Seven of his paintings are included in ‘Land of Sunlight’ a book of landscape paintings of the San Diego region, and in ‘California Light: A Century of Landscapes,’ published by Rizzoli and the California Art Club. He is an Artist Member of the California Art Club, a Signature Member of the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association, and he teaches painting at the La Jolla Athenaeum Art & Music Library. Yeomans cites numerous artists who have influenced his work, from Gustav Klimpt and Joaquin Sorolla, to Edgar Payne, William Wendt, Richard Diebenkorn and Wayne Theibaud. Workshops with Ken Auster, John Cosby, Sebastian Capella and Ray Roberts have also helped inform his work and challenge his approach to what he paints and why. He lives in Ocean Beach with his family and two rescue dogs.

Fees:
- LJAA Members in good standing: $20.00 for the first work submitted and $6.00 for each additional work.
- All others: $30.00 for the first work submitted and $9.00 for each additional work.
Delivery of Accepted Artwork:
All work must be hand delivered Gallery at 8100 Paseo del Ocaso, in La Jolla. Work must be delivered during the following times:
Saturday, September 17, 2016 or Sunday, September 18 from 11 am to 5 pm.
Pickup of Accepted Artwork:
All work must be picked up on Sunday October 2, 2016 from 11 am to 4 pm, or call the LJAA Gallery to make other arrangements.
Sales:
The LJAA will take a 25% commission on any sale, as well as collect the sales tax and pay any credit card fees. All packing and shipping fees to be paid by the artist.
Size Limitations for wall hung work:
In order to allow the maximum participation, wall hung work for this exhibition must not exceed 36 inches, including frame, external measure, in any direction, or weigh more than 20 pounds.
Multi-part works such as triptychs which exceed 36 inches in any direction must be entered as separate entries with separate fees and as such, you may upload a separate jpg for each part.
Gallery Framing requirements:
All wall hung work MUST be wired to hang. No open sided framing. Saw tooth hooks, or any other framing method deemed unprofessional by the director of the show will NOT be hung.
Three dimensional work may not exceed 150 lbs. nor a height of 6’6” including pedestal or base.
Insurance:
While the LJAA carries general insurance, artists should have their own exhibition coverage, including transit.
