Art in the Loft
Black & White 2016

We are excited to announce our very first Black & White Juried Art Show, opening October 7, 2016.  We are privileged to have Beverly Benson Wolf as our juror from Waterford, MI. With her guidance, we look forward to a spectacular show.

Ours is a truly unique gallery. The gallery has over 7,000 square feet of open loft space devoted to the exhibit of fine art by local, regional and national artists. We also offer visual and culinary art workshops, educational activities, and arts-centered community events. The gallery is open to the public and can be used by members for private functions and we look forward to exhibiting artist’s work from all around Michigan, work in all sizes, subjects, and media, except film.

We really love art – in all media. As well as looking for skill in the use of a variety of materials, we look for how well that medium relates to the concept and how fully the artist’s intention or concept is presented and realized. The juror’s awards will reflect that artistic judgment.

Show Details

THEME:  As we celebrate our 15th year, we dedicate our first juried art exhibit to the memory of Susan Lane Bastow, (1949-2007.) Susan was a talented artist known for her black and white photography and instrumental force in the establishment of Art in the Loft. Susan’s vision and perseverance in the face of a devastating illness inspired everyone at Art in the Loft to try to approach our own small setbacks with the same good humor and grace that she did. In honor of Susan’s special way of seeing the world, Art in the Loft is hosting its inaugural juried art exhibit entitled “Black and White.” Susan loved any gathering that included friends, food, music, wine and fun –and all of those will be part of this unique exhibit during the month of October.
