Southern California Artists Painting for the Environment
Places of the Heart in Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo and Ventura Counties: SCAPE art show and sale to benefit the Wildling Museum of Art and Nature

Eligibility
All members of SCAPE (Southern California Artists Painting for the Environment) are invited to submit paintings. You can join online (upon checkout) as part of the application process.

Entering Your Images
For best results, make sure your images are under 4MB before uploading (the system will not take anything larger) The OnlineJuriedShows system will automatically resize the images to 1920 pixels @72 dpi on the longest side.  Images should be in JPEG format, sRGB color space.  Help in photographing your work and properly sizing your images can be found at: www.OnlineJuriedShows.com/help.aspx.  If you need help entering your images or are unable to, please email
Help@OnlineJuriedShows.com or call 949-287-8645.

If you need help entering your images or are unable to, please contact
help@onlinejuriedshows.com or call 949-287-8645. Katrina is there to help anyone having problems with entries.

Artists are asked to identify the location for each painting. (IDENTIFY THE LOCATION by using the "Description" field in the entry form.)  The work must represent, whether in representational or more abstract form, some place within the TriCounty Region, including San Luis Obispo, Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties.  It should be noted that Santa Barbara County includes some of the Channel Islands. The exhibit will focus on natural and agricultural landscape, not urban landscape, and is planned to include some paintings of vineyards, seascapes, mountains, valleys, farms, and woods.

Fees
The cost is $30 for the first painting, and $10 each for additional painting. All entry fees must be paid by the entry deadline.  Artists may submit as many as 6 paintings, total, but there will be an attempt to have no more than one or two paintings from any individual artist. The fee does not cover membership in SCAPE, which is $35 per year.  Every SCAPE member is expected to volunteer for at least 2 hours for any SCAPE show to which he or she submits a painting or paintings.  Since this show extends for nearly 3 weeks, there will be ample opportunities to help with children’s art projects, artist demoes, the reception and artist talk.

Juror
The juror is Eric Merrell. Eric is a Signature Member of the California Art Club, and a distinguished artist and teacher.  Eric’s unique approach is described in his website, www.ericmerrell.com, “With a foot in both the ‘traditional’ and ‘modern’ camps, Eric strives to combine the methods of the former with examples of individuality from the latter, using his own sense of color and design to create work that is singular and timeless. His works have been noted for their distinctive aesthetics and brushwork, developed over years of pursuing his personal vision.”

Exhibition Details
The SCAPE show to benefit the Wildling Museum of Art and Nature will be the center of three weeks of festivities in the Santa Ynez Valley, including, but not limited to, artist paint-outs and demos, children’s art activities, artist panel discussions and The Vintners Association Annual Festival. These events attract thousands of visitors to the Santa Ynez Valley annually.

Sales
Fifty percent of the purchase price goes to the artist, 40 per cent to the Wildling Museum and 10% to SCAPE.

Awards will include juror’s choice, 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, three honorable mentions, Beneficiary’s choice and People’s Choice. Awards include cash prizes totaling a minimum of $500, gifts and ribbons.

Calendar
All entries are due online by midnight, September 1. All accepted entries must be brought to the Wildling Museum, Solvang, California, on Monday, October 3, between 11 am and 3 pm.  All acceptances are provisional. The juror and museum’s curators will have final say, and may eliminate any painting deemed unacceptable due to framing, fit with the curatorial concept, the show itself, or any mismatch between image and original. More paintings may be accepted than can be hung, with the extras held in reserve to fill “holes” that occur when paintings sell. Framing must be to a professional standard in a high quality frame. Although the back does not have to be papered over, the frame should be suitable, high quality material, neat and clean and wired ready to hang.
