ABOUT WASH:
WASH (Watercolor Artists of Sacramento Horizons) is a nonprofit corporation affiliated with the Sacramento Fine Arts Center.  Its purposes are to improve, promote, and provide an oriented educational service to the community; to share our common love of the watercolor medium with the community; and to promote the creative growth of our members within the organization.

DEFINITION OF WATERCOLOR & OTHER WATER-BASED MEDIA:
Any water-based medium, either transparent or opaque. These include transparent watercolor, tempera, casein, gouache, color inks and acrylics. Acrylics must be used as watercolor. Acrylics done in impasto are not eligible. Mixed media may be used, but water-based media must be predominant.

JUDGE: IRETTA HUNTER
Iretta Hunter is a master signature member of California Watercolor Association, as well as a signature member of Northwest Watercolor Society, San Diego Watercolor Society and Watercolor West.  Her paintings are held in private collections in the USA and South America.  Iretta considers watercolor “a colleague, an adversary, and a thoroughly satisfying way to use her time.”  Her work is shown at Valley Art Gallery in Walnut Creek, California.

AWARDS:
Best of Show--$300
2 Awards of Excellence--$100 each
plus other cash and merchandise for a total of $3,000

ENTRY FEES:
•  $25.00 first piece, $10.00 each additional piece. Maximum of 5 may be entered for a total of $65.00.
•  Maximum of 2 pieces per artist will be accepted into show.  Fees are non-refundable and must be paid by the entry deadline.

ENTERING YOUR IMAGES:
Entry form must be filled out in its entirety, including unframed dimensions (or size), framed dimensions (if not known, estimate it) or weight, medium, and price, if requested.  List sizes up to the nearest half inch.  Submitted images must not include matting or frame.  Crop the photos to include only the artwork.  Be sure your images are right-side-up.

For best results, make sure your image is 1920 pixels @72 dpi on the longest side.  Images should be in JPEG format, sRGB color space.  Help in photographing your work and properly sizing your images can be found at: www.OnlineJuriedShows.com/help.aspx.  If you need help entering your images or are unable to, please email

WASH OPEN Show Rules:
•    ONLY ORIGINAL WORKS ACCEPTED:
•    Created within the last 2 years and not shown previously at a SACRAMENTO FINE ARTS CENTER juried exhibit.
•    Not copied from another including copyrighted photos.
•    Not produced as part of a class or workshop.
•    18 years or older.

FRAMING AND PRESENTATION:
•    All work shall be signed by the artist.  
•    All watercolors, except 3-dimensional watercolor installations, must be framed.
•    All items must be fitted with wire firmly attached to the frame with flat or D-ring brackets, with raw ends of wire taped for safety. No saw-tooth hangers, screw eyes, or clamps.
•    Paintings done on paper or Yupo must be covered by glass or plexiglass.
•    Maximum size, including frame, is 48” x 50”. Maximum glass size shall be 28” x 36” - any larger must be plexiglass.
•    Shipped paintings must have plexiglass
•    Broken glass or soiled mats will not be accepted.
•    For watercolors done on Masonite or canvas, as well as 3 dimensional installations, a protective cover of glass or plexiglass over the work is preferred, but not required, provided the piece is protected by a clear acrylic or other protective coating.
•    Artist’s name, address, phone number, email, title of painting and price (or NFS value) shall be printed on the back of the work.
•    Work may be reproduced for publicity.

ACCEPTANCE AND HANGING:
•    ONLINE SHOW.  You will be notified by email of acceptance by July 29th. Please hand deliver or ship accepted pieces to SFAC.attn WASH 5330-B Gibbons Dr., Carmichael, CA 95608. ARTWORK MUST ARRIVE BY August 25th.  Return label and prepaid shipping must be included.
•    Please Label all accepted work with Name, Address, Phone Number, E-mail and Title of Work and Price.
•    The SHOW CHAIR has the right to screen and reject artwork not true to ONLINE image.  Any appeal shall be referred to the BOARD OF DIRECTORS for final decision.
•    Placement of work in show is at the discretion of the SHOW CHAIR.

•    No work may be added to show after the date and time of entry acceptance. No work may be removed from a show before the final release date and time. 


SALES AND COMMISSIONS:
Sales will be between the purchaser and SACRAMENTO FINE ARTS CENTER.  SFAC receives 30% commission from members and 50% from non-members.

LIABILITY:
Insurance is the responsibility of the artist.  No responsibility for loss or damage to any work will be assumed by SFAC, WASH or any members.

REMOVAL:
Artists should pick up their work October 1, 3-4pm or during SFAC open hours the following week. If you are unable to do so, arrange to have someone else pick the work up. Provide them with written permission. After one week, a $5 per work per day storage fee will be charged.  Work left after a month becomes SFAC property. Artwork will be packed and shipped the week following the close of the show.
