A Brush with the Past: Painting Ohio’s History

an Ohio Plein Air Society juried exhibition.

CALL FOR OPAS MEMBER ARTISTS:

This juried exhibition will celebrate the plein air tradition by exhibiting, promoting, and selling an exclusive group of works painted outdoors in the true spirit of plein air painting. Our theme is painting Ohio’s history. Our juror will select the finest plein air works from members of the Ohio Plein Air Society.

 

ENTRY PROCESS:
This is strictly a juried exhibition for OPAS Members. Entrants are not guaranteed to have a painting selected by the juror.

 

ENTRY DEADLINE:

• All entries must be submitted via Online Juried Shows by July 8, 2022.

• Artists MUST be members of the Ohio Plein Air Society to submit their works.

ENTRIES AND FEES:

• A non-refundable application fee of $30.00 will be collected from each artist submitting their works.

• This fee is payable online only by credit card via Online Juried Shows ( www.onlinejuriedshows.com )

• Each artist may submit a maximum of 3 painting images.

• This is strictly a juried show - all Juror decisions are final.


CONDITIONS OF ELIGIBILITY:

• All submissions MUST BE ORIGINAL PLEIN AIR PAINTINGS

  (at least 95% completed on location, outside, from direct observation, no use of photography)

• Paintings cannot have been accepted into another OPAS exhibition.

• Paintings should be completed during the calendar years of 2020 to July 8, 2022.

• Our Juror will be choosing works he feels best represents the spirit of plein air painting.

• Please submit your best plein air work only. No studio works.

• Accepted artwork MUST BE framed and wired securely for hanging in a fine art gallery setting.

• Works on paper and mediums susceptible to smearing/smudging MUST BE protected under

glass or plexiglass.

Size limit: artwork cannot exceed 48” on the longest side.

• The Schumacher Gallery reserves the right to reject any artwork deemed improperly framed or improperly prepared for hanging.

• Any work accepted to the juried show MUST BE present for the duration of the scheduled exhibition.
No artist may substitute another painting in place of the one that is juried into the exhibition.


AWARDS:

1st Place $500 • 2nd Place $300 • 3rd Place $200 • 4 Honorable Mentions $50 each


JURYING PROCESS:

• Juror: Paul Hamilton
• Each painting will be judged on an individual basis and not as a group.

The Juror’s selections will be announced via Online Juried Shows by July 21, 2022.

 

DELIVERY OF ACCEPTED PAINTINGS:

Drop-Off date is Monday, August 22, 2022, from NOON – 4:00 pm
• NOTE:
Schedule a different time or date to drop off your work. Email david.gentilini@gmail.com
That drop off time and date must be before the published drop off date, as the exhibition will be installed on December the day after the drop off.

• Please include artist name, title, sale price, and insured price on a label on the back of the painting.

You may ship your accepted paintings to the gallery:

• If your accepted painting is sold before delivery of works to the gallery, you must still hang the accepted painting in the exhibition. No substitutions are allowed.

• Please work together with others in your area for delivery and pick-up.

 

ART SALES & ARTWORK INSURANCE:

• All artwork for this exhibition will be insured by the Schumacher Gallery for the duration of the exhibition.
• A predetermined sales price MUST BE provided by the artist for each painting submitted to the show.

If the painting is not for sale, the gallery still needs an insurance value for the painting.

• The Schumacher Gallery will NOT act as agent in the sale of any of the Exhibitors' works of art. The gallery will forward potential buyers’ information to the artist. The artist will be responsible for his/her own sales.

• The Schumacher Gallery of art does not charge a commission on sales.

 

EXHIBITION CLOSE AND RETURN OF UNSOLD WORK:

• The exhibition officially ends Friday, December 9, 2022

• Pick-up date Saturday, December 10th from 1:00pm - 4:30pm

• Please work together with others in your area for delivery and pick-up

12/10/22 - Pick up unsold Art at the Schumacher Gallery (1pm- 4:30pm)
