PROSPECTUS: SOCALPAPA BACK BAY JURIED SHOW 2019
Eligibility: Only artists accepted to participate in the Weekend Display Show may enter the Juried Show.
Entry: May 15 to June 30. At www.onlinejuriedshows.com. No entry fee for up to 2 images.
$10 each for two additional images (4 total).
Requirements: Original plein air paintings only. “Original” means your own concept, design and work, not done in a workshop or under the instruction or supervision of another. “Plein air” means completed 70 percent outdoors on location. (30 percent studio touch-up okay.) Paintings may be oil, acrylic, water color, pastel. Paintings must have been completed within the last three years. Paintings that received an award in any previous Socalpapa show will not be accepted.
Subject Matter: The Newport Back Bay or one of the OC Parks. No exceptions. Do not confuse OC Parks with state or local parks. Paintings unidentifiable as to location or too generic in nature, e.g., solo tree; ocean wave, may be declined. It is a good idea to include the location in the name of your image, e.g. “Summer Morning (Black Star Canyon)”. Go to the OC Parks website for a list of locations under OC Parks Department management. Also, indicate what park it was painted in, in the Description.
Canvas or panel size: 6 x 12 to 14 x 18 or square inch equivalent. Paintings must be framed, backed with a black or brown dust cover, and ready to hang with d-rings and wire.
The Show: Up to Sixty (60) paintings will be selected by Judge/Juror, Michael Obermeyer. Accepted paintings must be delivered Friday, July 19 to the Muth Interpretive Center Conference Room between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon. The paintings will be on display and for sale in the Muth Center Theater room from July 19 through July 26, as well as for sale on www.dailybrushworks.com. The Artist Reception and Awards Presentation are Friday evening, July 26, 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Juried Awards: Generous sponsor and cash awards: 1st Place $800; 2nd Place 600; 3d Place $350;
5 Honorable Mentions at $100; Artist’s Choice $200. Three $100 Higbee awards; Robinson Award,
and OC Parks Award.
