Award winning painter, instructor and author Tony Allain has been painting for over 40 years. A self-taught painter of colour, light and movement with a complete understanding of his surroundings. Born and raised in the Channel Islands he moved to paint and live in Cornwall to capture the unique clarity of light living on the peninsular of the West Country. Tony has exhibited extensively over the years, his work can be found in many leading galleries as well as private and corporate collections worldwide, including the Maritime Museum, Guernsey and Queen Mary 2, Cunard Liner. He has exhibited with The Pastel Society of America in New York, the Royal Society of Marine Artists, London, The International Pastel Exhibition, Suzhou, China and the Pastel Society, Mall Galleries, London. A move to New Zealand in 2006 proved to be a turning point in his career with the acceptance as a Master of the Pastel Artists of New Zealand.  His work is regularly featured in The Artist Magazine, the Pastel Journal and the Practique des Arts.

Eligibility

·         Open to all pastel artists over the age of 18.

·         All work must be original in concept and executed by the artist in the pastel medium within the last two years.

·         Work exhibited in previous NPS exhibits is not eligible.

·         No instructor-assisted (hands-on) work is eligible.

·         Mixed media pieces must be 80% predominately pure pigment (soft) pastel.

·         Work must be originally drawn, not from digital projection or created on top of a base photo/print.

Submission of entries

Exhibition entry fee for up to 3 images is $35 for current NPS members and $50 for non-members.  Entry fees are non-refundable and must be paid by the entry deadline.

Artists may submit up to 3 images.  

Entry form must be filled out in its entirety.  List sizes up to the nearest inch.  Submitted images must not include matting or frame.  Crop the photos to include only the artwork.  Be sure your images are right-side-up.

Before uploading your images, make sure they are smaller than 4MB, but at least 1920 pixels on the longest side at 72 dpi.  Images should be in JPEG format, sRGB color space.  Help in photographing your work and properly sizing your images can be found at:  www.OnlineJuriedShows.com/help.aspx.  If you need help entering your images or are unable to, please email Help@OnlineJuriedShows.com or call 949-287-8645.

Framing Requirements

Size: Minimum 20x16 or 16x20 or 320 square inches outside frame size.  Maximum size 1632 square inches, with outside frame size no longer than 48 inches on the longest side (example: 26 x40 with 4 inch frame would be 34x48 outside frame size or 1632 square inches).

All work must be framed, professional in appearance and ready to hang with strong wire and flat metal hangers. Professional quality anti-reflective glass is highly recommended. If shipping work, consider protection and safety of the artwork as well as shipping guidelines.

Plexiglass glazing must be professional grade to be accepted. Please include a note alerting the gallery that you have used plexiglass. Scratched, fogged or inferior plexiglass will not be accepted.

Work that arrives at the gallery with visible pastel dust on the mat or glass will be pulled out of the show.

Sales

All work must be for sale and realistically priced. A 50% commission will be taken by The American Art Company. The gallery will pay the artist two weeks after the show closes.

Shipping Instructions

You will receive all necessary exhibition information via email, including a copy of our shipping agent’s (Phoenix) shipping instructions and specifications. Works may be shipped or hand carried to Phoenix Restoration & Custom Framing, 17712-15th Ave. NE, Shoreline, WA 98155.

Disclaimer

All reasonable care will be taken with paintings and submissions. NPS, its officers, volunteers and The American Art Company shall not be held responsible for the loss and damage to paintings, frames or digital entries.

NPS suggests that participants carry separate insurance as provided under individual contracts with shippers and receiving agents.

The artist grants permission to reproduce work for publicity purposes, both in print and digital galleries. Copyright will be attributed to the artist. Entry into this exhibition constitutes agreement with all conditions set forth in this prospectus and Entry Form and is your commitment to participate. Your entry form is a legal and binding contract to deliver artwork that has been juried into the show. If, after being juried in, an entrant chooses not to deliver artwork, he or she may not enter an NPS show for a period of two years.

Workshop
