Juror and Curator: EDITH BAUMANN
American painter Edith Baumann is based in Southern California. She has a B.A. from UCLA, and an M.F.A. from USC. Baumann’s abstract, geometric works balance energy and color. The edges of forms in her canvases are hand done, and the colors many-layered, introducing warmth and complexity into the minimalist context. She uses collective patterning, the phenomena of simple systems, and the timeless geometry of the universe that reflects the unconscious. Baumann’s series, Random Structure, continues her exploration of two different things, opposite principles, happening at the same time. Each work presents multiple iterations of the same shape moving out from the center in a spatial architecture that is both highly structured and emotionally transcendental.
