Liz Haywood-Sullivan PSA-MP. IAPS/MC, is a representational landscape artist dedicated to the pastel medium.  Her award-winning paintings are defined by light, atmosphere and graphic compositions, which often feature the interplay between man and the environment.  In 1996, she left the design world to follow her passion for fine art and since then has worked as a professional artist, art educatior, and arts advocate.  Liz was the third president of the The International Association of Pastel Societies (IAPS) from 2013 to 2017.  During her tenure she managed three Biennial IAPS Conventions and twelve Juried Exhibitions.  She serves on the Board of Advisors for The Pastel Journal and continues as a board member of IAPS.  Liz’s paintings are collected worldwide and have also appeared in art magazines around the world.  She appears in numerous books, including authoring Painting Brilliant Skies and Water (Northlight Books 2013), recently translated into Chinese.  Liz teaches nationally and internationally, along with judging and conducting demonstrations for numerous art organizations.

$6,000+ cash and merchandise awards including: Best-in-Show $1,000 cash award.

$35.00 for up to 3 submitted images. $10 for each additional image up to a maximum of 5 paintings.  2 paintings per artist will be accepted into the exhibition.

The Exhibition is open only to current members of at least one of the three North Carolina Pastel Societies. Entrants must be 18 years or older, residing in the United States. All paintings must be the artist’s original work and at least 80% soft/dry pastels. No oil pastels. No nude paintings. All paintings done in a school, school-monitored studio, workshop, under instructor supervision, or copied from published photographs are not eligible. Pastel with a finished surface of matte acrylic, resin or solvent varnish is not eligible.

Maximum size of accepted work is 42” on the longest dimension including frame. Artwork must be securely framed with glass or Plexiglas and ready to hang with proper hardware and strong wire. No sawtooth hangers. No clip frames. Gallery framing standards expected with neutral matting.  Paintings not meeting these standards will be accepted into the show, but not eligible for awards.

No previously accepted paintings submitted to a NC Statewide Pastel Exhibition may be resubmitted. Reworked previously accepted statewide paintings are not eligible.

Artwork must be for sale. A 50% commission will be paid to The Art Shop for each sale. No paintings may be removed from the exhibition before the exhibition closes. Works must have been completed within the past five years.

The shipping of sold paintings is the responsibility of the artist. If a painting sells after the close of the show, but was a result of being seen at the show, a commission is due to The Art Shop. Financial transactions for artwork sales will be handled by The Art Shop. Checks for sold paintings will be mailed to artists within 30 days of the exhibition closing.

Create a free account if you don’t already have one.  Instructions are on their home page under Your artist profile.
On the home page of Online Juried Shows you will find a menu bar across the top containing tutorials on how to enter and how to prep your image for entry. The image prep section also has information on how to photograph your work.

How to prepare image files:
File format preferred is JPEG, but you may also use a TIFF, BMP or PNG.
Title for the image file should be the title of the painting with no quote marks.
Example:  autumnlight.jpg
File Dimensions SHOULD BE 1920 pixels @ 72dpi on the longest side, however, your image can be a minimum of 800 pixels @ 72dpi on the longest side.
File resolution should be set at the very highest on your camera when shooting your photographs.

An Artist Bio, no longer than three hundred words, will be requested with entries. This is part of your profile on your Artist Control Panel.
Changes may be made to your entry up until midnight March 4, which is the entry deadline.

After the jurying process is completed, a list of all accepted artists and paintings will be available on
www.onlinejuriedshows. An email will be sent to all entrants when the information is available.

Every reasonable precaution in the handling, storage, and transportation of accepted works will be used. Neither the Pastel Society of North Carolina nor The Art Shop as organizations or individuals will be held liable for the loss or damage to paintings whatever the cause. The work will be insured by The Art Shop for the duration of the exhibit. You may carry independent insurance at your own expense to cover damage during transportation.

By way of application to the 2018 NC Statewide Juried Exhibition, the artist agrees to the terms and conditions stated herein including granting permission to each of the three NC pastel societies and The Art Shop to reproduce the accepted paintings on their websites and printed materials for promotional purposes.
