ABOUT THE EVENT
Plein Air Southwest is a juried membership paint out event presented by the Outdoor Painters Society. The 2018 event is hosted by Rockport Center for the Arts, Rockport, Texas. Juried artists will compete for $25,000+ in cash and merchandise. Artists paint for 6 days and nights at selected locations including but not limited to Rockport, Fulton, Aransas Pass, and Port Aransas, Texas featuring marinas, boat repair yards, pleasure boats, fishing/shrimp boats, sandy beaches, ocean views, and local architecture. The public and collectors are invited to view artists at work at the locations and attend the exhibition opening reception and sale at the Art Center. An artists’ orientation and welcome reception will kick off the paint out.
IMPORTANT DATES, DEADLINES AND EVENT SCHEDULE
• Entry deadline: January 7, 2018
• Acceptance notice: January 19, 2018
• Orientation and Welcome: May 20, 2018
• Official Paint Out: May 21 – May 25, 2018
• Quick Paint: 8am, May 26, 2018
• Exhibition Opening Reception and Awards: 5pm, May 26, 2018
• Workshop with Juror: May 27-29, 2018
• Exhibition ends: June 9, 2018
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
• Entrant must be at least 18 years of age and a member of Outdoor Painters Society. Join or renew at www.outdoorpainterssociety.com.
• New members joining during November and December will be credited to 2018 membership.
• To qualify, current Associate, Signature, and Master Signature members must renew on or before entry deadline: Midnight, January 7, 2018. MEMBERSHIP STATUS WILL BE VERIFIED ON JAN. 8, 2018.
• There will be no refund of jury fees if disqualified for non-payment of dues by deadline. NO EXCEPTIONS.
JURY FEE
To be considered for participation in this 6-day event. Artists must submit 3 images (REQUIRED) representative of their best plein air work and pay a non-refundable $60 jury fee by the entry deadline. Applications are processed through www.onlinejuriedshows.com.
ENTERING YOUR IMAGES
• Entry form must be filled out in its entirety. List sizes up to the nearest inch. Submitted images must not include matting or frame. Crop the photos to include only the artwork. Be sure your images are right-side-up.
• Before uploading your images, make sure they are smaller than 4MB, but at least 1920 pixels on the longest side at 72 dpi. Images should be in JPEG format, sRGB color space. THE JURY PANEL
A panel of seven will blind jury the applications. Acceptance in PASW is based on the overall quality of work submitted. Event participation is limited to 55 with a “stand-by” list of 10 in the event of artist cancellations. The decision of jurors is final.
NOTIFICATION OF ACCEPTANCE
Artist will receive notification of acceptance or decline by email. Accepted entrants will receive an additional e-mail with instructions, lodging suggestions, and other pertinent data. Submission of application and entry fee constitute agreement with all conditions set forth in this prospectus.
ABOUT THE HOST GALLERY
Rockport Center for the Arts boasts a state-of-the-art main gallery allowing the Center to host local, regional, national, and internationally acclaimed artists in both solo and group exhibitions. Rockport itself has over 200 working artists, a variety of downtown art galleries, and was recently named a "Top 10 Coastal Art Colony" by Coastal Living Magazine.
ABOUT THE JUROR OF AWARDS

PASW 2018 PARTICIPATION RULES
1. There will be no exceptions to deadlines, specifications or rules.
2. Participants must abide by rules of the event as outlined in prospectus.
3. Participants must participate in event activities as listed in event itinerary (distributed at orientation).
4. Participants must attend orientation and welcome reception.
5. Two (2) plein air paintings (with event stamp) will be submitted for award competition.
6. One (1) Quick Paint may be submitted.
7. Paintings must have event stamp and be created during the official painting period of May 21-25 to be eligible for awards.
8. Paintings must be for sale with a $500 minimum price. No exceptions.
9. Sales split: 35% to Rockport Center for the Arts and 65% to the artist.
10. Minimum size: 9 x 12 (or 108 united inches), excluding frame. No Exceptions.
11. Maximum size: No side may exceed 20 inches, excluding frame. No exceptions.
12. All work must be in gallery quality frames “wired” (no saw-tooth hangers) and ready for hanging. No exceptions.
13. No Gallery Wraps.
14. Arrangements for shipment of unsold work must be made with an authorized shipper at the expense of the artist. Pick up of unsold work by the artists is allowed at a scheduled date and time.
HIGHLIGHTS OF EVENT
• $15,000+ in cash including Best of Show $7,000 with Advertiser’s award.
• $10,000+ in merchandise certificates by event sponsors.
• Quick Paint competition.
• 6 days & nights of painting Texas Gulf Coast area.
• Artist orientation and welcome party.
• Artist “get-together” activities.
• Extended exhibition of paintings in Rockport Center for the Arts.
RESPONSIBILITIES/LIABILITIES OF THE ARTIST
By entering the event, you agree that you have read and will abide by all rules outlined in this prospectus. The Outdoor Painters Society, Plein Air Southwest 2018 and Rockport Center for the Arts are not responsible for the loss or damage of any artwork, for any reason, no matter what the cause. By submitting artwork to this event, you understand and agree with this statement. Insurance for any loss or damage to artwork is the sole responsibility of the participating artist. The artist also agrees to handle the shipment and removal of unsold work as set forth in the prospectus.

4. While you are in your account on OnlineJuriedShows.com, click "Personal Info" and make sure your name, address, phone number, and email address are up-to-date.
NOTE: Please be sure to read your letters in their entirety. Most acceptance letters will ask you to RSVP or will have special instructions you must follow.
