New Member Show 2017
Eligibility
To apply for representation in The Rental Sales Gallery you need to be an Oregon or Washington resident with previous juried show experience (ie: you’ve been accepted into a juried show before) or have had previous gallery representation. Please also submit your artist resume for our review where asked for on the Call website.
Fees
Fee for entry to our New Artists June Show is $25.00. Entry fees are non-refundable and must be paid by the entry deadline.
Submit Resume (REQUIRED)
After entering your images and paying the entry fees, go back to OnlineJuriedShows.com and log in using your email address and password. Right above where you just logged in, click "Your Artist Profile." You are now in YOUR account. Click "PERSONAL INFO" and scroll down to the BIO UPLOAD section and follow the directions to upload your resume. (While you are in your Personal Info, please make sure your name, address, and phone number are up-to-date.)
Entering Your Images
• Entry form must be filled out in its entirety. List sizes up to the nearest inch. Submitted images must not include matting or frame. Crop the photos to include only the artwork. Be sure your images are right-side-up.
• Before uploading your images, make sure they are smaller than 4MB, but at least 1920 pixels on the longest side at 72 dpi. Images should be in JPEG format, sRGB color space. Jurors
The Rental Sales Gallery jurors are anonymous with the exception of the director, Jennifer Zika, who is one member of a 5 panel jury. Juries change from show to show with the panel consisting of: a member of the PAM staff, the director of the gallery, a long time artist member, a long time gallery staff volunteer and the head of our jury committee or gallery assistant.
Exhibition Details
Each year in the Spring, Oregon and Washington artists have the opportunity to apply for membership to the gallery between May and June. The deadline is June 18th this year. New accepted members to the gallery will have 5 works shown and entered into inventory for our New Artist Show the third Friday in July. Once an artist is a member, he/she is invited to submit new art to our members shows in April and October. The Rental Sales Gallery has some 250+ members currently.
Categories
Most categories of art are accepted excluding those that would be too much of a liability for renting. Mediums excluded would be jewelry, textiles, glass and pottery. Also excluded would be excessively heavy sculptures or hanging paintings, and anything over 72 inches on one side. The gallery accepts oils, acrylics, watercolor, prints, photography, encaustic, sculpture, and mixed media.
Sales
All artwork in the inventory must be available for both rental and sale. Artists receive a 60% commission for a sale and 50% commission for a rental. Rentals are for a 3 month period and the artist would receive their 50% once for the 3 months.
Calendar
Timeline of events including
1. Submission period is between May 27th and June 18th, 2017.
2. Notifications will be sent out by mid to late June.
3. Those accepted initially via the OJS website will be asked to bring in the actual work for final review before being accepted as a member. At least one of the 5 works needs to be “hang ready” for display so we have an idea of final presentation.
4. Final acceptance notification will happen via a phone call in June, and all ready-to-show artwork is due in early July. Exact dates will be relayed over the phone.
5. The opening reception is the 3rd Friday in July. This year it will be Friday, July 21st, from 5-8pm at 1237 SW 10th Ave, Portland, OR, 97205, the gallery address.
6. Unlike other shows, rented or sold art may be removed from the walls as soon as the day after the reception. All works not rented or sold will remain on exhibit for approx. one month, after which, they will circulate with the gallery inventory.
7. Details about contractual agreements and gallery procedures will be given to all new members before the show.
